He is no good at AFL level Scoop, avoid. Amazing his career got as far as it did whn you compare to his Knights junior classmates that had no career.Sier fascinates me, I’d take the risk.

We all have biast and the mare mention of mid forward makes me think Ben Lennon, when I should think The legendary Dustin Martin, but it makes me nervous.McDonald v Butler might be a better choice to make
also your thoughts on Erasmus still 17 years old and athletic traits and size also good prospects of being dual positional mid/fwd
I'd take a flyer. Everything we need, big bodied inside mids, I've seen him play some ok footy. Maybe this is the wake-up call he needs. He is no good at AFL level Scoop, avoid. Amazing his career got as far as it did whn you compare to his Knights junior classmates that had no career.
If we had this draft hand and took Goater at 9 I'd be disappointed.
Here's some more action.
The way I'm reading this situation is that it might be better to grab a KPD further down the order, if it means we can stitch up a tall midfielder. There's also more noise about Goater to Essendon which is disappointing, think we might need to go early if we want him.
9. Goater
15. Rachele
26. Taylor
28. Alleer
Quite like that composition, Rachele sliding unlikely but you never know. Might get lucky with Draper going a bit earlier.
I think we are looking at taking James Cousins as a rookieI'd take a flyer. Everything we need, big bodied inside mids, I've seen him play some ok footy. Maybe this is the wake-up call he needs.
For his floor as a wingman & rebounder, definitely overs, on point with a pick in the late teens. With regards to his upside, fair weight, I think with his athletic specs the skies the limit, 2.92sec sprint pushes him amongst the elite in terms of raw power, that backed up by his standing vertical jump of 80cm. His tank seems to have a solid base and he doesn't have trouble finding the ball, especially in the backline where he appears much more comfortable. Can look rushed at times, that usually occurs in the midfield, but his acceleration from the contest could be a huge weapon in the centre square. It really depends on how you view his upside, if you think you could track him in a similar manner to Balta then he's a probable A grader. If you think he's destined for the wing or back flank then probably best to leave it for the second pick. I'm of the opinion that everything checks out - stats wise, athletic base, positional flexibility. Would the coaches share the same view? Why not when you have turned an ugly duckling like Balta into genuine centre half back.If we had this draft hand and took Goater at 9 I'd be disappointed.

Maybe we should consider making Brisbane an offer 9+26 - #14 + #18For his floor as a wingman & rebounder, definitely overs, on point with a pick in the late teens. Balta came into the league with exposed key position from at both ends. Goater comes without a clearly defined role at the next level which is always an alarm bell for me. Tracking him like Balta, do you think GOater can be key position player at the top level with no exposure to that role at all in his junior days? Has elite athleticism but rushed composure (alarm bell) and questions about his kicking (alarm bell). We said exactly the same things about another top pick out of WA, JON Far too much risk for me to go at 9 knowing that there will be better options. I'd take anyone of Ward, Hobbs, Gibcus, Johnson, Sonsie, Rachelle along way ahead of Goater at our first pick. For his floor as a wingman & rebounder, definitely overs, on point with a pick in the late teens. By tracking him like Balta I mean allowing him room to breathe without fear of being dropped. Balta looked all at sea in his first dozen games but in every match there was a glimpse & worth noting that Balta's confidence in his kicking ability has gone through the roof, to the point where he's kicking it 60 metres with accuracy. A player like Goater would need that space to grow but there's technically nothing wrong with his kicking, he's only new to the midfield so I'm not surprised he's had the occasional rush of blood. As far as the weapons go, plenty & the fact Essendon seem interested indicates he trained well during his time down there. I get your hesitancy but for pure upside he projects as A grade so I wouldn't be surprised to see him picked up in the first dozen.Balta came into the league with exposed key position from at both ends. I think that pushes us out of the range of the two tall midfielders, best to reserve pick 9 because I reckon it guarantees you one of Johnson or Goater.Maybe we should consider making Brisbane an offer 9+26 - #14 + #18
14 , 15 , 18 , 28
So in light of Johnson's imposing frame, which looks very Rance like, do you believe he could enhance his inside credentials? I've seen a number of profiles with outside midfielder for a label so maybe you're spot on but then again he looked ok at state level so maybe just coasting? The challenge with Erasmus is a lack of exposed form. His 2020 Grand final where he kicked 4 goals was outstanding, shows he has intensity ( I think an issue with Johnson) and great hands in that he does not fumble under pressure. He also showed he has an X factor. This was as a HFF. In 2021 he has grown into a mid with good disposal numbers. Is still very young and at 188 is a 'big' mid. Has been carrying a number of injuries lately so we have not seen him in the U19 games. Like a lot of others the Geelong game won't be on his CV.
Now the conspiracy theory!! It is convenient that such a WA talent should fall off the radar now, i will be watching carefully if/when the WA clubs "reach" for him in the draft. Was in most top 10 early drafts still in mine. Still would go Ward/Hobbs before him.
No, he left a couple of years ago to take up a footy manager role ? at the Western Jets IIRCIs Luke Williams still a recruiter at the Tiges,,didn't see him at any rebels games this year
Nope - he left at least 2-3 years agoIs Luke Williams still a recruiter at the Tiges,,didn't see him at any rebels games this year
I like the potential of what Erasmus could become and being 1 of the youngest players in this draft and a 'late comer' of sorts he appears to e a prodigious talent thats just scratching the surface and his size is perfect for the big mid/fwd. I think he is certainly going top 10 and wont get past eagles. If available at pick #9 i would be calling out his name. Only question i have is will his game translate to a midfielder at AFL levelThe challenge with Erasmus is a lack of exposed form.
