Were we lucky?
Maybe.
We only had 2 Brownlow winners in the guts.
The All Australian Captain at Full Back
And a multiple Coleman medalist at Full Forward.
So compared to other teams we didn't have much to work with eh?

:rofl :rofl

I went to a barbecue yesterday and met a whole lot of people I haven't seen since the grannie.

"Everything went right", "no injuries" "played all finals on your home ground"....

Blah blah blah

There are a lot of people who want to downgrade this flag.

We need another flag to be truly hated again though, can't wait

It’s the same everywhere. Besides anyone who is actually connected the the AFL world. The industry is pretty complimentary and understand why we won and the dominant manner we did. But the general public, they live off myths and twenty years of history to make sense of the flag.

Sums up our finals campaign....

"When the tiger wakes and strikes, the results are swift and unpleasant"

It was a clinical finals display , better than when we last won in 1980.

Picking off Tiger haters with ease .. ;D

I just hope all the other teams think we fluked it - like Geelongs Scott - the more they are underestimate us the better I reckon for us in 2018.

Well, Stevie J's opened up a can of worms with his book. Strained relationship with Scott.....the AFL version of 'The Special One'.

Just watching the dvd we have kicked 8 in a row and the crows havent fired a shot in 50 minutes. Houli just out marked Tex. Reckon they might be in trouble.
As a colleague over here in SA claimed "Must be the umpires"

We never kicked eight in a row. Most was seven - second quarter and first 10 minutes of the third.

But you are right, the more you look at it, the more the game was an absolute shellacking.
The only goals they kicked after quarter time were Walker's in the third quarter from a mark, then they got two in a row in the last quarter - one from a 50 and one from a free, and then at the end when they were 53 points down with four minutes to go - the junkest of junk time goals.

Interestingly the jbhi website lists that the contents of the second disc contains:

“Victory Pack Second Disc Contains
- Elimination Final
- Semi Final
- Preliminary Final
- AFL Premiers 2017 Season Highlights“

I wonder what the semi-final game is?? Was there a game I wasnt aware of? :) very well QAed
Ummm...so what's on the First Disc? How can they have over 10 hours content on the Second Disc? What's on Discs 3, 4 and 5? I've just sent a message to JB to correct that internet copy. The Description before it is fine so someone might have lifted that summary from somewhere else. Sloppy.

Yeah they probably just copied the template from last year's edition. Pretty sure it only contains four discs this year.

just went through this whole thread (for the first time) and read peoples posts when the game was on. felt like I was reliving it again in the different way. :cupgold

I truly believe Richmond's eleventh premiership cup will be on the mantlepiece tonight.
Feeling really good and comfortable, yet very excited about seeing the Tigers strut their stuff today.
Believe in Tiger Time.
Richmond by 39 points.
Go Tigers.

weren't far off.

Can confirm the Victory pack contains four discs - three finals + season highlights. The "poster" is nothing special - a small rectangular job that has novelty value only. It's not going to take pride of place anywhere.

Went to the club and picked up the Marshall book, but they were sold out of Victory Packs and GF BR's. JB Hi-Fi in Bourke St had plenty of each.

I got a finals pack fr Jb today. Not knowing it had only just been released. Just assumed it must have been out already.

The good times continue.

Are the games in HD?
Do all games have the alternative commentaries?
If so, are the alternative radio commentaries synced?

Have only had a quick look but the news is all bad. Bear in mind that I haven't watched any DVD in a fair while, let alone footy.

- Only the GF disc contains radio commentaries.
- The radio commentaries seem out of sync (behind by 1-2 seconds) - same as the reports on the standalone DVD. I had assumed this could be corrected by the BRP settings - 'A/V sync' on mine - but having never had the need to use it before, discovered that the adjustment range is only up to 200 ms. Not sufficient to cancel out the delay which is somewhat distracting.
- The picture quality is not great. As for "HD"... not sure DVDs are issued in HD anymore? Certainly, the picture quality is below that on a Foxtel h&a match telecast. And as stated elsewhere, the long angle shots are particularly dire. The fixed cameras while play is in progress are better, but the overhead one on the wires, and the roaming cameras out on the ground before play produce a lower quality picture. My disc player has Darbee processing; applying this at a low level resulted in a modest improvement, but cranking it up produced artefacts.
- The first two finals are labelled 'QUALIFYING FINAL 2' and 'PRELIMINARY FINAL 2', but the GF disc is labelled simply 'RICHMOND'

I'm left with the feeling that something was not right during the production process. I'll need to watch a few other DVDs to be sure.

It was a great relief to put on the GF Blu-Ray where the picture was superb. The difference from the DVD was night and day. Although I haven't been in the habit of watching DVD's lately, I have never noticed this big a difference. The BR picture is good enough that, as the players are going to their positions for Q3, you can see what looks like grease on Martin & Houli's jumpers (to slip past tackles?).

Curiously, the BR has the same audio delay on the radio calls, which led me to wonder whether they naturally call "behind the play" on the radio? Not convinced though.

The wash-up of all this is that I'm joining the chorus for a BR Victory Pack and Season Pack!

It was a complete domination really.

A mate last night said Rance was great in the first half, but didn't do a lot in the 2nd half.

I said that he didn't have to, the ball hardly went down the Crows end.

Got victory pack. Watching GF. Beautiful. Reckon I spotted a PRE stalwart going crazy at the punt road end in the third quarter after Graham's second goal.

Not a bad dance move he shows to the Crows supporters

Thanks Lee. Is the GF BR a different purchase to the DVD victory pack? Or does the Victory Pack contain only the Grand Final as BR?

I do find it remarkable that Australian sport shown on FTA is allowed to be broadcast in such poor quality.
