2013 Election Year Party Policies- Liberal

The Libs are in a bit of disarray at state level it seems.
Surely in Vic they will call an election immediately. The voters of Victoria elected Baillieu not Napthine. and now they dont have a majority. they are an illegitimate government.
In the NT they have been in government for a few months. Already the Chief Minister has seen off two challengers to his position, now the deputy Chief/treasurer has resigned while a senior minister has been sent to the back bench (which in the NT is quite small.)

I hope this isnt a sign of what is to come if the Libs get in federally.

Not defending the Libs, but what choice to we have? Elect ALP again? LOL maybe we should simply dissolve parliament and elect local chieftans.

Id like to see 'em dispense with state govts. have the Feds and a souped up local council. We could run with your idea and rebadge the mayor of the souped up councils "Boss Cocky".

Libs must be doing very well in the polls. U2 has gone quiet.

i expect the Libs wont publicise this policy before the election, but if it is implemented it will only make it harder for Labour if a large chunk of the voting base is eliminated:

seems quality runs through the Libs:

Must be a slow news day.
Bloody Fairfax muckrakers. ;)

Peter Van Onselon. He started his career as an Abbott staffer. I had lunch with him a few years ago, around 06, before he wrote his book on Howard and got his big break. Nice bloke, not a bad analyst, punching above his weight a bit because he's a very rare breed: a balanced conservative. And did he have dirt on Abbott and his cronies. Eye-popping stuff. Nasty.

Are you asking about the comments that were reported to have been said?
If so, no of course not. I don't know why you'd even ask that.

I believe Abbott demoted him for those comments. Appropriate response you'd think.

So these comments are supposedly Election Year Policy, who'd have deduced that.

sorry, after Abbott said on Friday morning that the staffer had apologised and that was the end of it, i thought that would be his response. I should have known that when Abbott makes unscripted remarks they may not be the truth. i am a little surprised tho that it only took him til that afternoon to contradict himself and demote the staffer.

fair enough. just in the absence of much actual policy i thought i would try to keep the thread moving. prob shouldve gone in the politics thread tho, granted.

Well, in response, I don't believe comments or gestures of that ilk have a place. Regardless of whichever political allegiance a person has.
Just as I don't believe any political party (or party leader) have all the answers, or have policies that are all good or all bad.

agree on all counts. :)

The Libs have brought out the big guns here. Anything to deflect from their own lack of policy I suppose.

Good to see Alex Hawke speaking out about Abbott's parental leave policy/great big new tax.
