By my reckoning there's a bloke left still on the board who'd be arguably his teams best player. :-X

Several of my top 50 are still live, one in particular I have been punting on falling from a great height. I would've taken him with my last pick except for the panic on ruckmen.

There's plenty of seductive talent about, but structure is a problem for some people. Balancing talent and structure is tricky alone, let alone also considering what other people are up to.

I guess.
Will those judging be getting obsessive about structure though?
Or will they be looking at genuine talent?

I know you are talking about the people who judge the teams but I thought we were picking a team that would realistically take the park, not an all-star team. Otherwise we all would have been selecting differently and ended up with an unbalanced squad with a lot of midgets playing out of position.

Alan Didak

Can someone update the master list and cross off players already selected.

Thanks

Plan B - Need another goalkicker, matchwinner, danger to make you folks have someone other than Pav to match up on.

Hmmm you threw me with the best talent of his team...I thought you mean left....Didak..that's all?

Great player and a good pick, but nothing to write home about. He can be very hot and cold. Has been playing well of late admittedly, but he's wasted a lot of talent by his age.

I understand where your coming from, and your right but looking at it from the wrong angle. The reason I am a big advocate of this, is it is a great mental exercise. The talent you can get into your team, without a salary cap, is still difficult when you have to get them into realistic positions and have the psychological angst of who will be available after you take the pick you really want to.

Judges won't be judging on structure, but the people selecting the talent had to justify them on structure, which in a strange sense is a bit of a salary cap.

It's a bit hard to explain, you should try it ToO, you'll understand. Trust me, it's not as easy as it looks.

I'm with you. Totally agree.

I knew Jolyl wouldn't last past my pick, at the very least I expected Phantom to take him, so it was then or never.

Yes, I was going to take him at that next, 5th, pick.
With him gone, I waited till my 6th pick.
I'll still back my Warnock pick until the end of 2009 tells me differently.

As many of you have guessed, I've tried, where possible, to build a long term list, not just for season 2009/10.
Cam Mooney has been my obvious exception for already stated reasons.

In the case of the ruckmen, I wasn't prepared to look at a 30+yo, especially not an undersized one.

Time will tell, I suppose.

Fair enough & yes he's not the only one ;) but he was the guy I was thinking of here when i mentioned it.

Didak is a *smile* no doubt & perhaps has even wasted some of his enormous talent to this point but his last season was outstanding.
No doubt it was his breakout year and with the possible exception of Cloke he is very close to the Pies most damaging player IMO.
It was a strong decision by the Pies to rub him & Shaw out of the finals. I reckon he cost them particularly.

Not trying to have a crack as it's a similar exercise to supercoach and I have stepped aside of this one. I never said it was easy. :)

Each judge will be looking at different aspects I guess & it will all be somewhat subjective. Best I not say too much more. 8)

I agree fully with you. I just think he is slightly overrated. His talent is not, but as a player he is. If that makes sense? In terms of his consistency and ability to deliver in pressure situations. Don't get me wrong, when he is on song he is deadly. I just think he is a bit hot and cold. He has matured as I said though, maybe I am being too harsh because he's a %^&*/. :hihi

I hope I didn't come across as defensive mate, I wasn't. I understand totally where your coming from I was just genuinely trying to explain there is a intangible factor to this that makes it a lot harder than it looks.

I understand what you are saying and you are 100% right in terms of how judges will look at it, what I am saying though is that everyone has been hamstringed by the same intangible. So it will still be a level playing field.

Case in point...if you and I sat down and ordered all of these players into a priority order the draft would look very different to what it would if ANY 16 people did this draft knowing they had to fill each position on the ground.

Is all I am saying. There was no offense mate, hope you didn't take my explanation the wrong way.
