Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

My view is that there would be quite a few clubs with skeletons in their change rooms and I think you would be surprised how many may be using methamphetamines.

As I said I would be surprised if many players are using ICE and any who are will likely be outed sooner rather than later.

Is it fair to assume that if the Tiges offered Cousins a contract, then the club is by default accepting of (champion) players committing such crimes and misdemeanours providing they don’t commit them while wearing the Tiger gurnsey?
And if that’s the case where do the Tiges draw their moral line?

For me, I’d say YES to any Brownlow champion junky, booze hound, party animal or mad transvestite but draw the line on suspected serial killers, rabies carriers and conservatives...... unless they’re a KPP of course.

Brilliant post (as usual) glanton. Makes reading this thread worthwhile. :)

As usual? Glanton's only posted 4 times!

and i guarantee if you asked the players whether or not they would want Cousins playing with them in 2008 id say 99% of them would say yes.

Didn't the players give the thumbs down to Zantuck?

Zantuck v Cousins......youre kidding right?

No, both mix in dubious circles.

I hope they do get caught - may make Vlad do something outside his comfort zone for a change and maybe admit there is a problem!

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

The AFL Commission meeting will also consider whether to penalise Cousins' former club, West Coast, which had been warned earlier this year that any further indiscretions from its players could mean fines, draft penalties or even the loss of premiership points.

all you people wanting us to pick up cousins should have a good think about the consequences if, or more likely when, he stuffs up if he plays for richmond.

the conditions placed on west coast were strict and may lead to them losing draft picks or premiership points.so you can expect if we pick him up then we will have at least as strict if not stricter conditions imposed.

he didn`t give a stuff about west coast possibly being sanctioned so why will he give a stuff about richmond.

the self centred prick is not worth the risk of losing draft picks or premiership points.

I have little doubt the 3 strikes policy will be reviewed.
The events of this season have badly damaged the brand and the 'brand' is one thing Vlad is far more interested in than individual player welfare.
Cousins won't be allowed to play with anyone next season.
Too big a liability. He's had his chance.

he is on his deathbed in footy and he wont stuff that up I wouldnt think.

He was on his last chance at WCE and he DID stuff it up - that's why he's without a club atm. Really really hope we have someone at the club with SOME brains and we do NOT go anywhere near him.

you are possibly right there Tigers of Old - just a silly thought that we may get something better than Richards - should have known better shouldn't I. :'(

If Andrew Demetriou charges Ben Cousins for bringing the game into disrepute he will have to do so before Bens case of failing to give a sample comes back to court next Jan. And based on what evidence could he do so?

I don't see how the WC Police could possibly allow the evidence supporting the allegation, that he refused to take a drug test, be used in an AFL Disaciplinary hearing before it came to court to be tested before a magistrate.

Such a course would leave them open to further civil action, based on malicious prosecution and possibly also based on an allegation of abuse of process.

Ben's WC fans would storm parliament. ::)

Demetriou knows all this. He also knows the AFL will wish to avoid being seen to show bias against Ben when they have no intention of bring any action against Richard Pratt in regard to the public corruption proven against him.

Demetriou will look for a compromise which will allow Ben to continue his career when AFL appointed experts advise yhat he is fit to do so. Richmond must be ready to take advantage of this situation both for Ben's sake and for our own.

Pleased to note that 2/3 of supporters so far polled are in agreement.

Instead of getting Cousins invest in a post season review and root out the malaise that causes players to not kick properly.
Whilst we have not been the best club over the journey at drafting the players can play football at a high level.
The difference is the confidence factor.

Geelong proved that by making people talk thaqt things could change.

Richmond appears to have a lot of introverted players. Are they introverted off the field? Or is it just on the field.

Cousins thinks he is God and his behaviour is unlikely to change.

His behaviour has destroyed West Coast.

Carlton won't take him as Judd will completely crack it.

Whose next after them?

His behaviour has destroyed West Coast
I could do with Richmond being 'destroyed' like they have been destroyed. Grand Finals, Premierships......top 8 finishes, mmmm destroyed..

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

PSD take the best player available - if it's Cousins, then take him. At least his problems are well documented and he can be both monitored and assisted. The same can't be said for the many others whose problems are not known. What's our charter - win football games, or produce good young men? I voted yes, leave the morality to other institutions.

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

Unless there is a decent player worthwhile in the PSD, I'd rather invest a place on the list to a talented kid in the ND.

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

Ben Cousins would be our best player if we picked him up.

He could also help change our losing culture too.

A few points Moment.

The club that he grew up in and won a brownlow and a premiership couldn't get him to tow the line, so what the hell has RFC got that would put him on the straight and narrow particularly if it gets him close to his mate Gardiner again, remember the WC sacked him as well because he couldn't stay out of trouble.

What do we owe Ben Cousins that we should do this for his sake?

The AFL has rules against illicit drugs in competition albeit pathetic, they do not have rules for anti competitive collusion outside of the AFL. What a ridiculous comparison. Thats almost as stupid as saying why don't the ACCC charge Cousins with anti- competitive behaviour because he cost the WC a tilt at back to back premierships.

Have been reading your contribution to the Cousins thread and am staggered, its almost as if you want him to come to RFC because he has a drug problem rather than despite.

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

Dont think it will happen.

Miller has quoted as such but then hasnt 100% said no to it either.

Maybe a smoke screen or maybe the truth.

Some clubs have stated NO...

My concern is that west coast couldnt get him on the straight and narrow what hope do e and also that he may reunite with his old "flame" gardener is of concern to me.

Wait and see i guess and what action the afl take
