Cousins won a Brownlow in a year his team made a GF

Cogs has done nothing other than winning a B&F playing in a terrible team.

West Coast would not in their right mind even consider trading Benny for someone who has not even a quarter of the currency he does.

What club would trade a player with such serious, unresolved baggage? Which club would want their kids at risk of that kind of influence?

There's a lot of water to flow under the Cousins Bridge before he's tradable. I don't understand why you've singled Cogs out in relation to my quote but at least he's an awesome role model and he shows up to training.

Re: Ben Cousins in trouble again

I find it strange that the same people who advocate a draft only policy also want a 29yo with drug issues.

I think LidsandBling's mail is spot on. I have heard Judd will be coming home also.

Ummmmm, there is a little takeaway, near the foreshore at Port Melbourne where Judd's sister works at, she tells me that she is really looking forward to seeing her brother come back to Victoria.

Re: Ben Cousins in trouble again

this is the perfect excuse for judd to leave without any guilt.

If Benny put his head down and commited ...

Most of us on the site have embraced one of WA's other problem childs, most of us have an inkling about what some of them were too ... Yet Benny is untouchable because he unlike many other players has been outed?

Wouldn't swap Cogs and Jack for Cousins in a mad fit.

Maybe i read your quote out of context, in that you were talking about both of them together, but if we could pull off a trade involving Cousins and Cogs... Seriously, we would be inherently stupid to pass on it .... More stupid than we were to not give him to Fremantle last year, when he only had a dodgy groin...

Maybe so, but Benny has a Brownlow, numerous All-australian guernseys and a premiership medal .... Cogs has none of these. If Benny puts his head down and deals with his problems ... I know which player i'd want.

He'll be back when the Eagles next play in Melbourne.

Re: Ben Cousins in trouble again

"IF" being the word mel. No point trading our players for hypotheticals. At this stage Ben isn't tradeable. Hopefully by the end of the season he is but that's something we can't just assume at this stage.

From the West:
Oops will try again:
Here are a few notes of the interview.

Says Cousins is not angry and understands the reasons why the club has made the decision.

Cousins will call Worsfold in a week to discuss how he is going but don't expect instant return.

Embley and Chick have spoken to the playing group this morning and seem to be OK now. Embley and Chick have worked through their differences.

Club knew about problems since July. Cousins has been disciplined 5 times since July.

Club VERY confident it will not be a positive drug test. AFL sanction normal test and nothing to do with the club. When Cousins wasn't at the club the club phoned him to come in and do the test, he was happy to come back into the club do it.

Upset with amount of speculation going on like Cousins wasn't told about suspension over phone, it was done in person.

Due to amount of speculation he is answering questions and is more open to settle it. Doesn't want cameras following Cousins because it isn't what he needs now.

Cousins has a huge amount of issues to overcome and he is willing to overcome them.

Cousins is going away for a while to deal with it.

Cousins wants to play again. He has support of family and the club. Worsfold wants him back at the club.

The phrase 'speculation and innuendo' was said more than a dozen times.

The 'what was his state of mind yeaterday' question was asked about 3 times trying for the same response that was taken out of context when asked about Gardiner last year.

Confident that club is 'bordering on being clean on drugs'. Asked the players straight out who has taken drugs, when pushed by the journalists on what was the response and do you believe that they told the truth Worsfold response was 'I would probably be getting the same answers and sheepish responses that I would get if I asked all you blokes'. He belives the club is drug free but can't guarantee it.

Re: Ben Cousins in trouble again

West Coast have finally recognised there is a drug issue at the club & then say they are bordering on being "clean on drugs".That is very quick work Coasters, they are kidding themselves.

Re: Ben Cousins in trouble again

IMO Judd is unlikely to come back. There is a long time between now and the end of the year - plenty of time to change his mind even if the whipers are true. Good players rarely move.

And even if he did come back, we are at best 1 in 10 to get him with little trade value in our players. At best we would need to finish on or near the bottom and trade those early picks obtained.

Re: Ben Cousins in trouble again

Yeah good players rarely move because of the obstacles Jb, moral, financial, contractual, player happiness, rarely do the stars line up, Think about all the times when superstars in their prime nearly left, Daicos, Bartlett, Ablett, C. Grant, always one of these four factors intervened. This is a case where they appear to be lining up: moral: double whammy, he's given good service and the club culture stinks, financial: a lot of clubs would move mountains to meet terms, Contractual: apparently up at end of year, Player happiness: does he want to play at a club full of druggies, and does he want to come home to the best city?

Things appear to me to be lining up for the trade of the century. (I agree with the 'even if he did... ' part)

Evo I reject totally your comparison of a potential Cousins trade with Fevola. Poles apart.

At last a sensible post re: Judd.

Re: Ben Cousins in trouble again

Are you agreeing with Jb's entire post Rouge Fjord? What odds will you give on Judd leaving WC?

To clarify, JB says 'unlikely', I say no certainty, but likely.

Yep,unlike jb to post such a sensible post.

Re: Ben Cousins in trouble again

THis was always going to happen on Judd.

I just checked and all the Melbourne based clubs fan websites and they all have Judd threads.

He is the becon of goodness that the WCE need to build around. They will not let him move.

And even though Judd publicly stated no contract talks who is to say they are not going on behind closed doors with no pressure. They can take there time and just get things right.

By the end of the year the Eagles drama may becom one of four or five cases that are unearthed. The first case was always going to be a media circus.

I say 'unlikely' for a plethora of reasons.

Re: Ben Cousins in trouble again

We will see in good time. I'm indifferent. IF judd decided to go, and IF we finished near last, and IF he was willing to go to us, THEN the price would be something like Deledio and 1st and 3rd round.
