....we dont have them falling off trees at punt road.

Thankfully we don't have them comatose in gutters either.

...with premiership medal hung round their neck :p !!

Cousins had a shocker in the GF by the way. ;)

How would you feel if the behaviour Cousins is indicating was being shown by one of our 'elite' players and the RFC was smeared all over the footbasll world with this crap? You want to bring that to Tigerland ?
It's not an isolated incident, it's a pattern of behaviour, that we know about.
Perhaps our club is not innocent of such behavior, as has been mentioned Schulz lost us the TAC sponsorship with an misdemeanor. But this is a drop in the ocean compared with what Cousins and co are getting up to.

Tell me our sponsors would not be getting extremely nervous if this was the image the RFC was portraying.
There is obviously far more for the Eagles at stake than just on field success otherwise they'd still be brushing this under the table.

Re: Ben Cousins in trouble again

yeah RFC players dont drink, smoke, swear, take drugs.......its all lies!

I reckon putting someone into a coma is not a great effort either.....infact hurting yourself is one thing...hurting someone else, to me, is far worse.

Re: Ben Cousins in trouble again

Can someone clear this up for me: If a player test positive for illegal drugs, are the AFL duty bound to dob them in to the coppers in any way. After all, they have broken common law. It would seem unusual that Cousins gets suspended from playing footy only when certain other members of the community would get arrested for the same or a lesser crime.

Also FWIW, it may well have been that Cousins was a bad influence on Gardiner rather than the other way round.

Re: Ben Cousins in trouble again

Cousins has a lot of football in front of him but as I said earlier I wouldnt be surprised if he has been suspended by WC because he is already a repeat offender and is now facing the strong possibility of a third positive finding and the heavy AFL suspension that that will bring.

We have a very positive culture at Richmond with leaders like Sugar, Browny Joel and Richo all providing an excellent example to our younger players. In fact so widely respected is Joel that he stands an excellent chance of becoming the next Pres of the Players Association. In short if Cousins came to Richmond I would not be concerned that he would be a bad influence or cause any trouble for the younger playing group.

The up side would be very high. He has had a great career injury wise.no soft tissue, no shoulder, no knee problems. He is in peek condition and as we know head and shoulders better than any of our current midfielders.

What would I give and what WC might want ..28 years plus .. There is really only one name but I can't bring myself to speak it.

Re: Ben Cousins in trouble again

No they don't dob them in jimbob.

Strange as it may sound,i don't believe it is illegal to have drugs in your system.(unless you're driving a car.)

The ambulance drivers don't call the police when they revive an overdose.etc.

Re: Ben Cousins in trouble again

I'm really looking forward to "hutchy's" follow-up story on the Footy Show this Thursday night;

Yep, fair enough. Odd law, if you are not taking them, but carrying them you are in strife but if they are found wasted with them in your system you are ok. Ingesting drug filled condoms is a no no so if you get caught, all you to do is somehow internally burst the condoms and you will be free to go.

If ANY of our players were involved publicly in what Cousins has repeatedly been involved in, they would be facing similar pressures. Do you know something 8ty? ;)

As for the other issue that will be dealt with appropriately by a court of law.

WCE won't mind clearing Cousins out. They need more money and cap room for Judd's next contract.
Plus his behaviour is unnerving.

How did the club let such talent in Gardiner, kerr and Cousins get so out of control AND get to two GF's in a row ????

In all seriousness I heard today from a reliable source that the Eagles will have trouble with Judd. Apparently he has had enough of the party boy mentality at the eagles and wants out from what I hear. Who could blame him.

Re: Ben Cousins in trouble again

The Sunday HS will have an exclusive with a 'fruiterer' who picked up Ben the night at the Casino. He'll describe the state he found Ben, he looked nothing anywhere near as if he was under the influence of alcohol, they said he looked as if his brain was fried.

could these be classic steroid abuse symptoms? not saying it is just asking the question to others who know more than i about this angle.

Crystal Meth is 10 times more addictive then Heroin, one hit and your hooked!

It's hard for anybody to come back from a Crystal Meth addiction without some time in rehab. I heard a rumor a few days ago that some AFL players had experienced ice, if this is true it's nasty business. I hope no Richmond player ever tries ice, because if they do their career will be over with one hit!

There are rumours abound that Cousins problems are on ice for now.
Even Sheehan and Caro allude to it in their articles.

Sheesh if he's mixed up with this stuff... :help

Re: Ben Cousins in trouble again

I just wish Ben all the best in getting his life back on track. That's the important thing. Getting back to first class football would be a bonus after that. It's way too premature to talk of drafting him when he obviously has some pretty serious unresolved problems.
