You can never have too many small forwards

Not sure where you’d get the next small forward from. I think it’s fair to say we’ll be going mids and talls this draft.

Other clubs? Owies? Konstanty?

SANFL? James Rowe? WAFL. Jed Hagan? The 2 best goalkicking small forwards in the VFL (Jay Dahlhouse and Jay Lockhart) aren’t in any danger.

Or turn one of our own into a small forward? Sonsie? Doubt it. Steely Green? Possibly.

Rookies Rookies Rookies.

Always can find them in the rookie draft.

Some of the best ones get overlooked

Don't think Dan Rioli could have been descibed as a goal kicking fwd apart from 2017.
Apart from 2017 his returns as a small forward were lacking. Even the number of goal assists. There may be some selective memories as to why Daniel was moved to the back lines. There were times Hardwick dropped him to the vfl to get som touch when he was playing forward as he simply failed to get his hands on the ball. Which was a complete waste of his skill set.
Hence the retooling to htb.

Goals are kicked by the last player in the chain. This is chaos theory. The last bloke taps it in. Small forwards swarm and get the outnumber.

Nobody wants one Matthew Owies much less seventeen.

Chaos players who crumb and are quick. 17-22 Daniel Riolis.

*Daniel Rioli doesn't kick enough goals.* He'll kick 22+ a game if there are 22 of him.

If you look at Daniel's statistics as a forward you might wonder how he ever got a game, let alone played in three flags.
Watching the replays and appreciating the craft of a skilled forward is another matter.

They aren’t the be all and end all, but they do give an indication. As I said, I remember Hardwick mentioning how tough a position it was to play, especially when you don’t get your hands on the ball. Starvation corner.
It’s why Hardwick dropped him on a few occasions, so he could get some touch and confidence back.

If people find that hard to believe, they’re rewriting history. Go back and read some of the comments. He wasn’t a star forward. Far from it. He was serviceable in some games, played well in some and never got near it in other games.

Try to be objective with his performances back then, rather than picking out bits you think you remember. His highlights as a forward were few and far between.

Goals are kicked by the last player in the chain. This is chaos theory.
:giggle: No, not always, sometimes there’s a player waiting for a pass in the goal square but some greedy bastard wants to kick the goal instead of passing to the last man in the chain.
Well I’ve seen plenty of goals kicked from a sublime kick from the centre square. I’ve seen plenty of goals kicked by a forward who has marked after crashing a pack. Plenty of Joe-the-goos-goals.
The last bloke taps it in. Small forwards swarm and get the outnumber.
Sorry mate, sometimes not always
Nobody wants one Matthew Owies much less seventeen.
One is plenty. I doubt anyone has advocated any more, let alone seventeen
Chaos players who crumb and are quick. 17-22 Daniel Riolis.
17-22 that’s 6. Maybe just a couple too many.
*Daniel Rioli doesn't kick enough goals.* He'll kick 22+ a game if there are 22 of him.
He might. They won’t. :giggle:
Opposition talls will get a few touches and centre breaks.
