Now that Danny has rammed another nail into his coaching coffin, we now have the fun task of finding our next senior coach.

On the back page of the Sunday Herald Sun it compared O'Donnel and Harvey.

Now I would take either of these guys, but would have a preference for O'Donnell as he has played for Sheedy and coached with Matthews giving him exposure to two of the all time great coaches and their methods. Harvey, is a bit limited in that he only knows the Sheedy way.

The only other candidate worth considering would be Wallace. He is clearly thinking about the tiges job as he always theorises about how the team SHOULD play, and how certain players SHOULD go about it.

My order of preference - O'Donnell, Wallace, Harvey.

Hard as it was to vote against Diggles and his infinite words of wisdom, I've voted for O'Donnel on the same grounds as RR did.

What makes a successful coach? It seems being Mr Nice guy, a la Watson and Frawley isn't really a successful approach so far.

A coach needs the self belief that he deserves to command respect from the players. The best coaches seem to actually have a bit of mongrel about them.

He doesn't have to be on their Chrissie card list but he does have to be very strict in the disclipine dept.

I think our players have had it a tad too easy.

Do any teams have coaches coming out of contract? Grant and Rhode would have to be skating on this ice too.

I don't believe in the theory that noone would want to coach Richmond. I think coaches would probably queue up for the chance.

The off field dept has improved immenselyand Richmond is a success story waiting to happen for the right person for the job.

Go Tiges.

Spot on Rosy, we are a complicated lot at Punt Rd, but the right man, in combination with Miller, can sort this mess out.

And another one on Danny, he looked terrible in the box, to the point where they stopped putting the camera on him.

IMO his confidence is gone, his belief in his own game plan is gone, his ability to get the players up and going is gone and he is so predictable that we are easy beats for any coach with half a brain.

It is sad to see a proud man degenrate into something akin to losing fool, but Danny is in way over his head and should do the right thing by himself and the club and step down at 5.10pm after Rd 22.

Yeah, sack the coach, we desperately need a crisis down there. We've waited 23 years for a flag, why not wait 6 more?

I mean, it's obvious, it's worked really well before, so lets get rid of him.

I wasn't mentioning sacking coaches Deano, the question refers to the next Tigers coach.

Do you think Danny should be there forever? ::)

Now these are the types of polls I like. I've been abused for my previous polls but they were all worth while. Now I was gonna vote for myself but I'll be too busy rehersing for the Australian Idol ;D

I went for Wallace and it appears Wallace would like to coach us - On fox footy a few weeks ago he voted that our club song was the best in the league. Wallace is a smart coach and I really respect his special comments. The bulldogs under him were one of the most attacking and exciting teams going around - not to mention one of the most skillful. OK they didn't win a premiership but he was restricted at the dogs due to a lack of resources, finances, and playing personnel. You can't compare the dogs and richmond in these areas - we have the resources and the supporters and RFC is waiting to erupt - Wallace knows this. This is why he is the man.

I think the PRE brains trust, consisting of Harry, Diggler, Laff, FUD and ILoveNewman are cherry ripe to share the honours, I would have thought.

Let he who is without sin cast the first potatoe.

Just out or curiosity Dean, which Richmond coach of the past 20 years do you think didn't deserve to be sacked?

Without buying into the sack the Coach arguement my choice of the three would have to be WALLACE for the simple reason he is a proven coach.

He did a lot with little at the Dogs and with the support of MILLER I personally think he could bring good things to Tigerland.

Also he had the chance to make a pretty good analysis of where we're at from the comfort of the media couch, and no doubt he would have a little selfish interest in his own analysis.

I'm not dismissing O'DONNELL or HARVEY, but they are both untested at the top level and that always has some danger.

More than even we need to get it very right next time, whenever that may be.

I think geischen was hard done by - he deserved a contract extension ;D. I just loved the banners that read "Unleash the geesh" - this has been my highlight as a tiger fan ;D

Bring back Northey, Walls ,Geischen and Frawley as one coaching team because by now they will realize how a average team shafted them. They all will be wiser now after the event. But Geisch has got all the revenge he needs with the boys in white. they coluld be known as g-n-f-b-o sorry w.
got no f balls ??? ??? ??? ???

Good luck with that Harry, what will you be performing? old Mcdonald?? ::)

I said Harvey, but wouldnt mind either Harvey or Wallace.

I'm going to admit this - I voted for Diggler!

Why you ask?

Because if his coaching antics are as entertaining as his PRE posts, then at least I would be getting some value for my mebership, reserved seating, raffle tix, merchandise, effort, blind tiger faith (others call it stupidity), etc. ;)

Ive had enough of this and its time to put an end to it!!!!!!

Can Danny frawley please come out and tell the forum his true name!!!!

DEAN3

You silly buffoon!!!! How on earth can you still NOT want that DUD sacked????? How can he drop two of our younger players in HYDE and DRAGICEVIC and leave biddiSCUM and HOULICANT in the SIDE!!!!

DEAN3 we all know you are danny in disguise but the most dissapointing thing of all is the fact you read our posts but didnt take them into account!!!

GO THE AXE!!!!

TF - not sure what you mean. The others deserved the sack, so Danny does too? Don't follow the logic.

Rosy - I don't think that Danny should be there forever, but I do believe that the RFC must break the syndrome (and it IS a syndrome now) of automatically turning on the coach when on-field performances are poor. It is a symptom of the syndrome that some of you may not be able to cope with that. For some of you it is childishly simple: we're losing therefore sack the coach.

Frawley may not be the man to take us to a premiership, but I do believe that it is important for the RFC to resist the howlings of a few disgruntled "supporters" and opt for stability, credibility and respect ahead of crisis, laughing stock and another change of direction. In the long run, I think that we'll get to where we want to go faster by doing that than we will by treading a path well worn in the last 20 years.

It is a football fundamental that premierships are not only won on the field. Everything and everybody, from the bootstudder to the President must be committed to a single outcome, and a lot of things have to go right. Upheavals and football don't mix very well. I have said before that, with the benefit of hindsight, the football department got it wrong at the end of 2001. They made a judgment about the bottom 1/3 of our playing list that has since proven to be a mistake. Does Danny deserve to be hanged for that? That's not a question I can really answer. Obviously others think they can.

What I see on these boards is angry supporters lashing out at anything and everything. i.e. we have a team full of duds, Greg Beck must go etc etc, Frawley has no game plan and so on. Metaphorically dumping chicken poo at the door of the club. But I haven't seen much that represents a coherent argument about the direction of a football club.

At last, I think I can see that the club is starting to put together the structures and processes of a successful club. This has only just begun, since the appointment of Greg Miller and Ian Campbell. Unfortunately the last piece of the puzzle, on field performance, is always the last to fall into place.

Really, if you believe the armchair experts (including myself) that we have so many duds in the side, then Danny Frawley must be some kind of coaching genius to get us into a preliminary final in 2001. I think he deserves to be supported until the end of his contract, and then assess where we are. That would be the mature and reasonable approach.
