Welcome Tyler Sonsie

I don’t think Sonsie is soft. I have watched him closely in contests. He stands off and watches rather than blindly rushing in. When time is right he swoops in and gets the ball. Dusty does exactly the same. What I really like about Sonsie is his ball use. Hardly ever wastes it. He is an extremely intelligent user. I’m very bullish. He can find it unlike RCD

Didn't Dimma say if you stay in the VFL you become a VFL standard player? or something like that. Get him in so he can learn from Cotch, Dusty, Dion and Shai.
In fairness that is pretty silly thing for Dimma to say as by default of the list sizes there are many listed players that simply have to play in the VFL.

I think he was referring to playing VFL only for multiple seasons, not half a season in your first year at the club coming off a shortened, interrupted pre-season.

Personally, I think Hardwick has shown a good eye for talent. He tends to leave players in the VFL who are not up to AFL standard and promotes the players that he thinks are or at least can be very quickly. More often than not, he has been right.

McBean, RCD, McDonaugh, Menedue, Martyn, Miller, Garthwaite, Lennon etc, etc say hi back
You’ll never, never know if you don’t give them a go.

Better to have trialled them and they failed, than never to have tried them at all!

Won’t write him off just yet but this is as bad as I’ve seen the Tigers VFL.

What is with our development of young kids. They seem to be really struggling.
Losing coaches of the calibre of Fly McCrae, Leppa, Rutten and Caracella? Replacing them with ... a lesser calibre? Club unable to invest in quality coaches due to soft cap cuts and Dimma's big whack of $$$ ?

What is really concerning is how these kids are going backwards. He dominated a VFL game last year for Box Hill and was flying earlier this year. I think we really need to review how our soft cap funds are being used in developing these young players. Dow was also putrid.

IIRC correctly he said that with reference to McJesus, and boy was he proved right on that front

Sonsie’s performances have been up and down likely due to increased opposition attention and his near total lack of pre-season which would affect his ability to recover fully week to week.

He’s halfway through his first year in the system and has had some good games and some not-so good. It’s not like he’s 4 years in and struggling to get the ball 13 times a match.

Naturally talented footballer, the ball finds him when he's in the midfield. 12 effortless clearances today - would be getting a run in the firsts for many clubs...I'd love for him to get a go soon.

Got a tidy little half step n shift that seems to gain him a bit of extra time n space to execute, he then unfortunately hacked a couple of kicks.
Not sure Sonz will get a senior run this year, but as with a bunch of our other youngsters. They've hardly had much footy over the previous couple of years, so a full season elevated at ressies compared to junior footy will do them no harm.
Gibber's obviously been one out of the box with his performances n we've seen plenty of young fellas already get a taste of seniors this year.
Got me a feeling that after a full season of development footy n an extra pre season over summer the door to the senior side is gunna be wide open next year just inviting the youngsters to step through n have a crack.

agree Steve ;)

Coming along very nicely considering all the footy he has missed in recent years as well as an interrupted pre season , that can effect more seasoned footballers then a new draftee

He's levelling up. Winnig it. And much smarter with the ball. Quick to use and incisive.
