Welcome to Tigers: Jason Castagna

He along with a couple of others got us back into the game with his pace and willingness to take the game on. Superb.

The everready bunnies they never stop.
We have some of the best ‘runners’ in the comp.
Rioli, Lambert, Prestia, Ellis,

When they are not getting the ball, they still continue carry out their team instructions, it's this attitude that makes them real good players.

Stepped under when he needed to.

Best game I have seen him play for quite a while.

2 goals in a tight prelim is a great effort and gave us plenty of run into the f50.

Was a massive spark for us in the 2nd and 3rd quarters when we needed someone to step up. Very good game.

Agree. End of the 2nd we looked bogged. Then all of a sudden he said ‘Time to wake up boys!’ Then went on a couple of blistering runs, making every other player on the field look slow motion. Not much came of it on the scoreboard, but you could sense he turned the team switch on, and all tigers lifted 2%

To me, this was the pivotal moment in game.

Nice one Georgie.

Yeah I remember the spell you mention, didn't lead to a goal but Tuohy tried to pick it up and sure enough George was back again to smash into him and force a forward half stoppage. Was in that play at least 3 different times in different ways. Massive spark to the boys and also to the fans who I felt we'd gone a bit quiet.

Agree. The run where he went Castagna Crazy with 3 baulks or dummies - he didn't know where he was going so how could anyone else - showed intent to take the game on when desperately needed.

2017: 25 games, 26 goals, 10.8 touches, 3.0 marks, 3.0 tackles, 2.1 inside 50s per game
2018: 22 games, 26 goals, 10.3 touches, 3.0 marks, 2.9 tackles, 2.2 inside 50s per game
2019: 23 games, 27 goals, 14.4 touches, 4.0 marks, 3.3 tackles, 2.8 inside 50s per game

No longer having to constantly fly against bigger blokes, he is our transition link man, often being hit up on the logos and then belting back inside 50.

He's playing good footy at the moment. He's hit form at the right time.

He's had a pretty good season but he's in season best form right now.

Reading Jon Ralph's article in the Hun.... Apparently he's a chance to come into the side this week.
Better than I thought the other night. ... considering he didn't playo_O

Are you able to add his goalkicking accuracy at all?

Ok...for those interested.

2017 26 goals 20 @ 42%

2018 26 goals 24 @ 42%

2019 27 goals 23 @ 46% thus far.

So accuracy slightly improved.
I believe the AFL stats include out f bounds on the full as part of accuracy too.

Had a great game, loved his run and he simply shouldn't have been able to take that amazing contested mark!

Best thing about Castagna's slight accuracy improvement this year is that he has another key fwd in addition to Jack taking space and leading into the main corridor so less opportunity for straight shots.

John Ralph reporting today he's in the VFL grand final and if he puts on a good display might be promoted for the AFL GF next week.

This journo barracks for us too.
