Welcome to Tigers: Jason Castagna

Castagna has played mainly up forward or in the middle for last 5-6 weeks in the VFL - no time spent up back. Broad has been playing up back - probably why they played him first when Bachelor went out. With Houli, McIntosh, C Eliis all out injured - makes our choices up back limited.

Castagna a definite in this week and Broad a most likely out.

Have been saying it for a while now, McBean and George are bona fides.

Some nice holes being filled if they get senior games.

Was calling for Castagna's selection for PA game, but ... oh well! He must be played this week, surely. But putting that aside for now.

But did I detect a somewhat more attacking game-plan by the VFL team this match, i.e. compared to the senior team?

My point is they really should have beaten top-team with 16 AFL players, including the likes of Oliver and Grimes, plus Trengove brought back to play half a game so was a big advantage in being fresher? Plus our two key mids injured.

So, amazingly, our players at VFL level may not be so hopeless if they try to play faster, attacking footy. Only poor kicking skills stopped them beating best VFL side on ladder!

In for Hunt or Broad this week. Really should be a no brainer. Liked what I saw of him in his 2 AFL games anyway so was disappointed he was dropped in the first place.

I'd drop lambert who is proving to be useless and give broad one more game

Yep I'd rather give a bloke who's only had 2 games more games then a bloke that's played poorly for many weeks, obviously different types though.

Wouldn't mind seeing Castagna having a run with Liba or Hunter, not as a tag but just as an education

Jayden Hunt is lauded for his brave style & line breaking pace. Take the game on attitude.

But we keep our version out & try to tone those factors down.

Stick him in the guts for some much needed pace.

Jason Castagna
Three goals, 23 disposals, seven tackles, four clearances, four inside 50s

Also continued his good form. He had 23 disposals, four clearances, seven tackles and ended up with three goals — a couple at crucial times in the game - playing mainly in the midfield, with a bit of time spent forward.

I'm keen to see George run around in the ones this week. I know he runs around like a headless chook and lacks polish, but the fact I'd rather see him play reflects how abysmal our game style has become. Keen to see what he's really made of over the remaining weeks at AFL level.

Id play him mcbean and keep in broad also as he needs time in the ones and looks keen to take the game on.

Yes, Broad made some poor errors but why the hell was he trying to man up Dixon at times (Dimma?). What do you think happened? He needs to be given the chance to adapt to AFL tempo. He choked on a couple of short passes which he must improve, and must know when to HB and when to take them on.

But, he shows guts, a willingness for the contest and kicks ok when going long.

Exactly Wiegard.
Any player showing those 3 qualities should be encouraged.
If we drop him after one game it excuses the poor efforts of some senior players last week.
We need to give new players a chance not experienced hacks who have already shown their qualities or lack thereof.

Got a player here. Looks to have bulked a bit since earlier in the year too.

Very impressive.

Why the hell has he not played more this year?

He has developed really well. Ran around like a headless chook when he was drafted.

Excellent game
