Welcome to Tigerland - Callum Moore

Big ask to impact in game 3 (think this will be his 3rd game). Compete, run, chase, tackle, ruck. He will finish this game, if he "plays his role" as spent and as exhausted as he has in any game of football he has played.

Really... REALLY want him to contribute well in this game..

Has the potential to be a reasonable AFL player but as long as he plays between the arcs. You don’t want him kicking out from the D50 because it’ll probably just come back and you don’t want him kicking in the F50 because he,ll break your heart.
He is awkward but he is nowhere near as bad a kick as you make out he is. I have seen him play probably 10 times live and his kicking is average but it’s not horrible

Not expecting him to kick many goals as he hasn't been kicking many in the VFL. I'll be happy if he gets to as many contests as possible, brings the ball to the ground if he can't mark it, gives us an optional when we need to go down the line, and if he keeps out of Jacks way.

Not really

Playing against an extremely weak opposition on a ground that suits our playing style
3rd year player with 50+ Vfl games and is a superb athlete with great agility

Has what it takes - Ronke kicked 7 ?

Extract:

Key forward Callum Moore takes his spot up forward, and Hardwick doesn't expect the Tigers to lose any of their trademark pressure around the ball by swapping a small for a tall.

Moore played two senior games in 2016 after being taken with pick No.12 in the 2015 NAB AFL Rookie Draft.

"The guys have a level of expectation and how we want them to play, and Callum has met those expectations, so he comes in," Hardwick said.

"Callum is incredibly quick and one of the quickest players at our club, so once again we pick a dynamic forward line, and Mabiol Chol is the same, that's how we like out talls to play.

Looking forward to Cholly getting better.

Maybe not horrible but will be highlighted at AFL level. In 6 games this year he's had 28 efficient kicks and 23 inefficient. Not great for VFL level. WIl be interesting to see how he performs.

Planning to cover my eyes when he is kicking for goal from a set shot.

Hopefully you will be closing your eyes on half a dozen occasions, i'll take 3 goals 3 ;)

First sign of a slight strategy change. Interesting path.

Boy deserves his spot, he may play the Castanga role with a bit of rucking thrown in.

Great subplot.
Takes Towners spot for mine, the spot is his to lose if he can make the 2 talls setup work out for us. Incl tackling/pressure etc.
I personally like that we are looking at it, plenty of time to eveluate & make the call later in the yr with time to go before Finals

Sure is a change.

He isn't your typical 2nd key forward but no doubt they will want him to play that role.

Could we see Jack playing closer to goal this week?
Given Moore's kicking i'd rather Jack is the one up fwd/closer to goal, lightens his workload for later in the season etc.

Just as likely to be 1 goal 5 as 3 goals 3. Watched him a handful of times n like the Richoman of seasons past. The ball could end up anywhere.

But you would know that Richoman kicked 800 goals and still holds the record for the most kicked at the G. Will happily settle for 1/4 of that right here and now.

:clap

Of course, and just like thousands of Tiger fans I used to close m eyes, cross my fingers n throw out a little prayer when the great man had a lolly pop shot at goal in front of him.

Always hope our Tiger boys do well in every game, doors opened up for Callum to poke his nose through n have a rummage around. Hope he has fun n enjoys contributing to a win in whatever way he can.

Yer, just like Richo, Cal will probably be another player who, if he gets enough games under his belt, will unite the Richmond faithful in prayer often ... with closed eyes as you said.

Another poster has already pointed out the similarities in kicking. Both able to kick it very long; get the difficult long or sharp-angled boundary goals ... but miss the sitters.

He'll definitely appeal to all the "masochists".

Guys like Callum will never improve if they are not challenged. The coaches and selectors feel he has form that warrants a gig in AFL and they are better informed than us with our biases so I am looking forward to Saturday to see how he goes. He may surprise us

We have all seen Richo miss a set shot from the box with the ball going out on the full and the next kick score from an impossible angle. Its what footy is all about and we love our players imperfect and otherwise - godlike Richo!

Moore might just be a case of ... and the tradition continues. I can trace it right back to the great Paddy Guinane who was like the Richo of the day in my childhood. Old-time Tiger great who specialised in huge, powerful marks and never roamed far from the goal-square. Had hands like spades and built like another current Paddy - McCartin.

Then he'd line up and miss from point-blank range ... but even much more often than Richo.

About time they put him in. Deserves a block of at least 3 games.

I only have really faint memories of Paddy guinane but he was a real favourite of my Dad. Huge mark, horrible kick.
