Welcome to the Tigers Nathan Broad

The thing that strikes me with him ,

For a guy who has played so few games , he looks so composed

Collingwood reckon sam murray could win the stawell gift.

he arched his back and hared on sunday, and Broady kept pace with him.

didnt get him, he arched his back pretty good, but kept right on his hammer for 25m

Broady is fast. and big. and tough. and smart.

hes a prototype Dusty Era Richmond footballer.

The recruiters have either

a) built an extraordinary deep and distinctive list, working off a detailed blueprint (It has brisbane 2000-2003 stamped all over it; fast, tough, smart 90kg blokes all over the park. even got three of 'em in to interpret the blueprint; Leppa and Fly and Caracella)

b) hit an extraordinary vein of good fortune and coincidence.

I think it started with a) and was heavily augmented with b)

*fun fact: fly macrae's was way off the left hand side of the bell curve at Brisbane, playing weight 72kg, when the average lump of man that ran out was 88kg. We go at 86

I almost completed a phD in the great Brisbane side. I lived walking distance to the gabba and had a Voss fetish. The most overwhelming feature of their success, in my studies, was the sheer bulk and speed they had on the ground which gave them confidence to run forward into space from congestion, becasue they knew the laws of physics would dictate they would win the ball 75% of the time.

we match them for champs: leppa; voss, black, lappin, akker, brown = Rance, Martin, Cotchy, Dion, Sheds, Jack R. we even match them for brownlow volume at the corresponding stage of The Era.

we almost match them for very formidable soldiers; Michael, Johnson, Keating, Power, Lynch, MacCrae, White = Down the line dave, Vlastuin, Nankers, Danny, (well darryl white is unmatched - grigg is the closest thing we have and hes not close; in truth, we are probably 1-2 short in this category, not to say a coupel of blokes cant step forward)

we can match them for triple premiership foot soldiers (not to be confused with regular foot soldiers, and also enables me to exclude both Scotts ;D); Ashcroft, Hart, Pike = Lambert, Grimes, Caddy/ Bachar, Grigga

then bottom 6 blokes match up with the deficient duel premiership Scott Bros, Copeland, Notting, Headland, Hadley, Mcgrath = Reecy, Georgey, Kmac, Brando, Broady, Geezer, Towner.

I think we are dynastical as *smile* and the only downside I can see, is the bookies have woken up smelling coffee.

Boobs is a younger version of Grimes except he's more polished. how he was not brought back into the team straight after his suspension is a joke in hindsight.

I posted here mid last year that i would love to see Broad be given a chance as a defensive foward prior to Townsend getting the gig, I still believe that he would offer an option up foward and could kick 40 goals as a foward if played the full season. If Jack was to go down today i wouldnt mid seeing this be tried

Did he used to play forward? I don't see it personally. Doesn't take many contested grabs (2 last year, Reiwlodt 37) and generally not a real contested ball player but maybe that's because he's focused on his defensive set. A Reiwoldt replacement would need to not only bring the ball to the ground but take their fair share of contested marks.

Dont think he has played as a foward at swan districts although he did kick 4 goals from HF from what i remember reading prior to richmond drafting him , He was always a player i thought with his size and agility would translate to an ashley mcintosh type who played for west coast, His marking is pretty good and he reads the play and the flight of the ball well .

With Tom Lynch coming in 2019 and CCJ , Balta , Morre almost ready this probably will never eventuate anyway, But wouldnt mind seeing it in a game just to change things around if needed

CCJ and Balta certainly excite me. Look great prospects. Still not sold on Moore but he's there abouts, not as a key position player though imo, more of a Grigg type replacement.Tom Lynch, well I have my fingers crossed that's for sure.

I have the feeling that Ben Miller may well emulate Broady with his desire to play AFL footy and if he continues to progress we are looking good with West Australians at our club

Miller has every physical trait an AFL footballer could possibly dream about
Height,Athleticism,Agility,Speed,Leap

He will become a beast of a player in 2-3 years time

i reckon it is cos if he was brought in rd 4 Short would have been dropped but they didnt want to drop Short, so they waited for an opening.
