Welcome to the Tigers Nathan Broad

Thought through the situation when he fed out a cracking handball to a team mate just as he was taking a smashing that was pretty composed.

He is improving man his numbers show it, he is no star but he did well today was far from our worst and his best game.

Has actually embarrassed a few of his so called class team mates today.

Even as a Darksider i will pull out the whip when deserved but Nathan has not deserved the derisdion hes copped.

I will stick up for the kid just like i stuck up for Rance when all and sundry on here were saying he cant kick he isnt up to it he no good.
For once I agree with you Craig. I was sceptical but I am pleasantly surprised with his development.

And Broad does have a quality that's a bit out of fashion these days - he's fearless.

Agree, he wasn't fazed about the opposition (what we need at RFC) more about his continued development & on field decision.

If you'd seen his decision making a year ago, Al, you'd consider his current use a miracle!

One more note, he had a few bad tackles yesterday. That's unlike him. In each case he was out of position and couldn't make the ground. That's something to watch from here on. (On the flipside he landed at least two gloves on Dangerfield when others were struggling to do that.)

Broad is freeing Vlastuin to play +1. Or Rance at times. His defending is usually good. One of the few bright lights yesterday, for mine.

bit split on Broad. yeah he's better than he was. seems to hesitate a bit, needs to find some sharpness.

Hadnt paid attention to him last year to be honest but happy with what I see.
Maybe the assistant issues we had were more of a problem in development of the players than I thought too.

Broad's standard plays of last season were to shut his eyes and slam it on the boot or drive it 30m down the line. To them.

He's showing that he's coachable. Those blokes keep their jobs.

FWIW Broad. Spending five seconds looking for and hitting a target just fifteen metres away. Every time I see this I see a bloke who's been told he'll be dropped for an unforced turnover. And that overcooking it is ok for now.

Agree. He's moved from conscious incompetence to conscious competence. The next step is unconscious competence.

Broady isnt doing anything wrong.

he runs in straight lines and is very accountable to his man

I'd trust him in finals I reckon

Has been pretty good thus far in a lock down role.
Doesn't play out of himself, hard at it and best of all allows Grimes & Vlaustin to attack more than normal.

I think once Conca is fit, Broad goes back out.
Other thing is he is keeping Batch out

I agree with you on this but if Conca comes up and shows any sign of form I would replace Broad with Conca

I'm just not sure where he fits.

Is he the 4th tall? Do we need that?

I'd argue we need run from half back more than we need a 4th tall-ish type. He's worth having around as cover though as it seems he can play tall and small.

He hasn't done anything particularly wrong, although I have concerns over his disposal and slow decision making.

To me, Short, Markov or even Menadue coming off half back would be better value for us right now.

100% correct. Grimes and Vlastuin are more than enough as 3rd tall defenders. What we lack in our backline is more run and kicking skills. Houli has shown he can't handle pressure which only leaves bellis the only player to give us drive from the back half. Short was coming along nicely so not sure why he was dumped. Menadue also. Seems Bernie just can't help himself.

Agree. I think he has been doing alright, played ok yesterday but he's Grimes understudy. Having both of them in means 2 defenders with very little rebound ability and Optimus is a far superior player (I love Grimes so none of this is a dig at him). Would prefer more run off half back, probably Short but I'd also like Menadue in for Kmac.

Short was dumped H because his form was sh!thouse

I didn't think he was going too bad, he had a poor game against GWS, but I thought he went out for Houli, and with Flossy and Ellis down there he got squeezed out.

His form for the 3 preceeding games was poor his form for the 2 preceeding games was putrid, he was horrible with turnovers and no run provided he shouldve been dropped the week before he was then he played even worse.

Not a fan. Plays too safe for the type of player he is and slows us down coming out of defence.

Might make it with another 20 games under his belt, but I'd prefer Short for the time being.
