Welcome to the Tigers Nathan Broad

Media driven. Normally this would get 2-3 weeks. Burton of port gets 2 and that looked worse meaning the action.

Broad suspended for four weeks by Tribunal

He was lucky with 4.
The kid was buried into the turf.
Not sure what Broady was thinking.
Take the 4 weeks and run

What used to be 2-3 will probably be 4 after the publicity about ongoing concussion issues. They've made an example of Broad with no allowance for his good record. Sacrifice 1 to educate 100. Let's see if they are consistent with similar incidents for the rest of the season or maybe all players will now stop themselves as Broad should have done.

Fair enough what I'm saying is similar incidents have attracted 2-3 weeks.
I agree what broad did was stupid no need for it as the ball wasn't going out., now will watch on from the sidelines for a month.

Ouch!..4 weeks. In the past I would have cracked it at such a tough sentence but the research into Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy have made me revise my once flippant attitude. Head trauma =life long degenerative issues. I feel sorry that Broady got 4 but I hope that Patrick Parnell doesn't suffer too many ill effects. Yes it is a contact sport but we still have a duty of care in our work places. So long as the tribunal is consistent with this type of ruling from now on then, I am okay with the findings.

4 weeks probably fair.

But how on earth did Pickett only get 2 for launching himself into a player.

And don’t come at me with the outcome being the player being injured or not.

The AFL picks and chooses when the head is sacrosanct.

How did Stewart get only 4 knocking out someone cold miles away from the ball the hypocrisy of this organisation.

They do take the effect into account.

Which is why there is no consistency.

Same punishment he copped for the post Premiership celebratory pics , they too wouldve caused concussion :))

Don’t think anyone is that unhappy with the outcome, its this one compared to other outcomes.

I would‘ve taken three. But I’m not outraged.

it was always a minimum 3, so +1 is a relief. When you have clowns in the media agitating for more it could have got really ugly imo

I hope that Parnell doesn't suffer any long term problems.

I feel for Broady, it wasn't a premeditated action.

We have to stop comparing past penalties for these type of offenses. Concussion lawsuits have woken the AFL up. Suspensions for concussion causing actions will only increase from here. Broad only got 4 because he pleaded guilty. It would have been 5-6 if he'd tried to fight it

More the point the previous week’s penalties plus Stewart’s from last year were all too light. Broad picked the wrong time to do something stupid & dangerous.

We move on - Young has his spot for time being with others such as Tom Brown a chance within the 4 week suspension period. Bad time for Gibcus to be injured.

As long as it is applied consistently across the board from now on.

Somehow I think that will be difficult for Michael Christian and his merry band of mouthbreathers.

Weren't the media lining up to defend Stewart for a deliberate act of thuggery? Saying what a wonderful thug bloke he is?

They spent the whole time trying to reduce the sentence he would get.

Yet Broad does something silly, which was part of a football action, not a separate act, and they want him to get a bigger penalty?

What a joke, anyone who suggests that there is any correlation between Stewart's thug act and Broad's careless act is a shill for the Boys' Club AFL.

DS
But the contact was to the head which is supposed to be sacrosanct, Stewart also jumped into the air to make contact which is also supposedly no longer allowed.
Sorry TBR I sometimes agree with you but definitely not On this occasion, imo it was a callous act on Stewart's part, he was very lucky to only get 4 games suspension.
But they were adamant he was a “good bloke” remember!
