Welcome to the Tigers Mate Colina

Cut your losses, let him go, this is farcical. Yeah it might only be a cat b rookie spot but surely there’s another cat b rookie with more likelihood of producing something.
Yep. There’s plenty more ex basketballers in the sea.

Clubs can have up to 4 Cat B rookie spots. We have only used 2.

If there was another Cat B player available that was worth getting, the club would have done it by now.

He's not keeping anyone out.
There are other implications by having him on the list.
1. No continuity for our VFL team as we are a Ruck Short so we need to play a top up which means our boys aren’t growing with a future Ruckman. Having a replacement ruck means he isn’t accustomed to our game plan.
2. Team balance is out in the VFL as I’ve watched every game this year and we struggle to field two Rucks and have been restricted in the height department.
3. It must be demoralising for the boys seeing him constantly injured offering nothing and I think it becomes negative energy to the team in the long run.
4. Risks of him failing again is a big issue and is there a long term gain from it? I say no.
5. Whether we have four Cat B spots or not the club is still wasting money on a low probability outcome for the future. So should the money be invested into another project as Colina is still at first base , but four years older than when we first got him? A new guy would at least be fit and ready to go.
6. The club is begging members for raffle tickets after the digital bricks failure, so wouldn’t it be wiser to put that money into other areas of more important need rather than a low success rate project?

Wasted days and wasted nights with this bloke. Surely we finally move onto something different at seasons end.

Not saying we should keep Colina but,
We have Nank, Naismith, Ryan, OHB and Colina on our list. Considering we should never really play 2 of them together at AFL level, we shouldnt have really needed another ruck this year (unless they are an improvement on Ryan/Naismith). We will need to replace Naismith in some way next year.
Likewise team balance is out because we have Lynch, LeFau, Gibcus, Young and Grimes sitting in the stands each week, and Fawcett has been most weeks.

In a "normal" year our VFL would have looked very different.

I was looking up RFA and UFA and i noticed the AFL website had Colina as a Restricted Free Agent who had been delisted previously by the club. I thought FA needed to be on a list for at least 8 years , so is this different with Cat B rookies? Also when did we delist him?

Professional expertise in this field would be much appreciated.

We got an exemption to extend him as a Cat B rookie for this year as it was his 4th year as a Cat B rookie. So we had to delist him and re-rookie him as a Cat B. My undestanding it was a 1 year extension/exemption. I understand another 1 year extension/exemption is being requested.

There was talk about allowing rookies 5 years on the rookie list- i assume this would apply for Cat B? Not sure if has come in yet though.

I don't understand why we are so fixated on keeping this guy...

Does he have photos of the entire board on a plane to Jeffy's island?

Agree, he was only brought in to try out all because Soldo or Balta knew of him through family and friends. Try a real footballer and finish with these basketballers.

Bit hard when cat B doesn't allow you to add real footballers...

True but I mean 'footballers' in general (i.e. Irish). I suppose having this bloke for 2 years with barely a game possibly proves we need to look elsewhere now.

You mean the Soldo that was only known through Ivan Maric and was previously a basketballer and Cat B rookie?

I'm only asking if we recruit Cat Bs only because someone at the club knows someone or do we really scout hard for someone with real potential? Soldo was good from day 1, but this bloke's injury prone 2 years in a row even after a good pre-season.

The Irish experiment has possibly an even lower rate of success.

For every Irish footballer that makes it, heaps more don't either through homesickness or lack of ability. We just don't hear about them as often.

Maybe all of his 'back issues' are just a front for mad back stretching scientific experimentation to extend someone's height and get them to being 8 feet tall!?!

Eeeeeeevil genius!
