Welcome to the Tigers Marlion Pickett!

Off the boil a bit? Or is it his new forward role?
Forward role ... but what he did do tonight was good. contested, found space ..
could've taken 2 of the marks of the year with a bit of luck

Not sound enough under the flight of the ball to be playing up forward for mine.

Better on the wing. That Balta - link - goal in the last quarter is his go, the tackling and pressure on the boundary etc.

I like the move up forward. Competes. Stays there for know until we can get Nank back and Ryan playing more forward.

Not for me. Doesn’t compete well enough when he doesn’t have a run at the ball from behind. Weak when having to contest under the flight of the ball.

Got back to the wing for a fair bit the last quarter and looked much more comfortable.

Gun wingman being told to play an unfamiliar role. He'd be a fun half back too.

I'm a yes to a return to the wing.

Agree. Doesn't do enough IMO. Only 7 disposals tonight. Might make way for Banks to be tried out on the wing.

Putting Marlion forward to add some resistance to the ball coming out too easily and possibly get a couple of goals, it sounds good . . . in theory.

In practice he is one of the best wingers around and I far prefer him on the wing. Would not be averse to Marlion playing mainly on the wing with some cameos in the middle and forward. In the middle because I reckon he could be great there in bursts, and forward for the surprise factor. But, mainly on the wing.

I think we are losing value when we don't play Marlion predominantly on the wing.

I dont understand some people.
Most forwards touch the ball 10 to 15 times at best
Pickett in a new role, often flying against Rattygolear and multiple cats. Often brought the ball to the deck where Cotch and Mansell feasted. Played his role very well

Almost mark of the year for mine

He's had a few high flying attempts in recent weeks but hasn't managed to pull them down.

I thought he was good at halving the contests. Didn't get the possessions but I was worried about Geelong picking off our inside 50s and he helped neutralise Geelong's defenders. I don't mind him forward at all and it gives Jack Ross a chance to own the wing position.

Heh heh heh.

Marlion Pickett playing forward. He's not playing as a defensive forward. He's allowed to do that and sometimes does.

He's there to compete in the air and ground level and to win. He's fully showing us all that he can do any of the things. And sometimes, minute by minute, looks a genius. We want him to to excel as a #3 forward but to compete when he doesn't or can't.

He's pretty much taken over the Noah Cumberland role for now.

Marlion has many fans in his previous roles to date. Wing etc. Qualified fans who see his weaknesses, detractors and true believers. But all schools will agree he has been improving his best for two years now. Not to say he doesn't bungle.

IMO Marlion's confidence at ground contest and particularly at aerial contest is not mature. *He's 30yo. When will it mature?* We're testing that.

Adequate confidence ground and air on the wing? Marlion has enough. Confidence ground and air as a forward? He hasn't got that yet.

*Almost took mark of the year three times tonight!* Who cares? Did he touch the ball?

Marlion was sagging off the formations in R9. Not working. New role. Ok. We want Marlion to do the basics as a forward. Sure, he almost took mark of the year five times without actually touching the ball. Basics. Touch the ball.

Tom (Hooray for the Dog) Stewart was twice well clear under an air ball tonight but went to water. Marlion frightened him from 25m away. Connor Jadzny cried under a couple too. But to keep the fear alive he has to hunt more of them down. He was nowhere near them when they soiled their Huggies.

Marlion Pickett could be the best #3 forward we've had since Nathan G Brown. But he's gotta hit the ball.

And exactly what the coaches wanted. Some of us got a briefing from a coach and Rhyan and Marlion executed to gameplan pretty much perfectly.
