Welcome to the Tigers Jacob Hopper

If a player retires before contract that does not need to be paid out right?

If a player has injuries and retires bc of injuries the above would apply correct?.

I think we are being smart and pragmatic with these offers, we have to offer something better to get them across but also know if they have a serious injury they are more likely to retire then hang at club doing rehab for an injury they know they cant come back from to just get a paycheck..

Correct.

Only have to pay them out if they were taken as a RFA or UFA I think?

The prospect of playing for us is at an all time high.
Hopper was always going to select us because he wants to play at the G.
And today 'Hooper's decision to join Richmond was made so much easier because they play in front of big crowds.'
+ we don't back door players on contracts and we don't maks low ball offers

Obviously we will have to give up picks 12 and 19 to start , no point mentioning RCD etc , they arent going to ad in real value , players who will impact our next flag tilt are no point getting rid off ( though you have to give up something) , George would have some currency possibly due to him been a 3 time premiership player , I do think Soldo will be part of the trade, he would be wanting more opportunities and he won’t get them with the Captain been the starting ruck , even though Nank is one of my faves , it would nearly make more sense to trade Nank over Soldo , older , body much older , not a genuine tap Ruck and would hold a lot more currencry, however that ain’t happening so I’m guessing with all been even it will be our first 2 picks with Soldo this year plus next years first or our first 3 this year and Soldo and possibly George amongst it with a second coming back our way.

I also think, and posted this in his own thread, I would trade Sydney Stack.
Maybe in a 3 way trade to one of the WA clubs for a 3rdR Pick or Blair-forbid, a 2nd R.
Or to help GWS Get Freo's Ruck Meek.

Sydney has no value to us. None.
We have 2-3 players ahead of him to play as a small Forward - MJ, Judson Clarke, Cumberland and .. IMO, Dusty's last few years will be more forward.
We have 2-3 players ahead of him to play as a small Back - Baker, Rioli and even Mansell or Brown.

May not be worth much but he could be either part of something or net a late 2nd / 3rd.

With the 6 kids that emerged this year plus Tarantino and Hooper, add a couple more kids next year and we have in effect replenished half our starting line up in one year. Good times.

We know he played was it 8 games this season, due to a banged up knee.

Couldn’t disagree more. First of all that anyone would trade anything of value for him, and that he doesn’t have value to us.

If Stack doesn’t make it with us, he won’t make it with another club straight away. He could do a stengle and spend a year out of the system to prove himself and make it then.

Yes baker and Rioli are ahead of him for a smaller back role, but mansell doesn’t even come close to what stack offers and brown is a completely different role.

Still hope for RCD if he is retained and gets his hands dirty and prepares himself for a big big pre season working on the areas identified.

The kid has talent.
If there are doubts about Graham getting a game then RCD is zero chance.

I read or heard somewhere the Lynch deal was 2 years in the making. I expect these two have been the same. Not uncommon for big name players.

But regardless the club really does do a great job now in this regard. Everything from the acquisition itself to board approval to the forward planning to selling the dream to the players - not just to TT and JH but to guys like Jack and Chimp as well.

What a club.
What a time to be a Tiger.

This double player swoop is unheard of in our game. To get this right would involve so many moving parts.

Huge project. Unbelievable to pull it off, I didn’t think it was possible. I’m in awe.

No worries Checkside. We will agree to completely disagree.

I told you guys last week.
We had a practice session this year.
7 new kids with Brown and Banks to come in next year.
The club has set it self up for continued success.
You don't add Hopper & Tarranto to sit outside the top 4.
This is measured and calculated to the tee.
5 new kids last year and 2 gun midfielders this year.
Brilliant planning and execution by the club.
But, but, but. We can't draft talent with early picks n should just bin them all for rookie picks.
Got me a feeling we drafted some talent with a few of those early picks last year. Maybe the club does know what it's doing after all.
