Welcome to the Tigers Jacob Hopper

I wonder what the hold up was?
Soldo not getting more yrs and more $$.
He wasn't moving there and doing a Bowes trade, just Spreading his 380k over 4 yrs.
He wouldve wanted more yrs and more money and they decided he isn't worth it..
And that works for me

67 - Broad
53 – Graham
63 – Miller
43 – Ross
43 – Cumberland
46 – Ralphsmith
51 – Rioli Jnr

Some good value out there if you have a good culture to develop and get the best out of them. Think I'd be confident in seeing what becomes off picks 53 & 63, likely to be around 43-45 & 53-55 after the father/son picks are all used up before our picks.
That's when we exell not with 1st rounders but 3rd & 4th rounders.

Ben King out of contract end of 2024.

Some other talls to think about - Tom De Koning out of contract end of 2023, Harrison Jones 2023, Cox 2023, Hind 2023, Naughton 2024, Jamarra 2024, Fogarty 2023.
Cadman 2024.

That’s interesting because according to a quote from Jason McCartney on Friday, he confirmed that F1 and pick 31 wasn’t enough to get the deal done

I didn’t think to ask about the Ralphsmith request either. I assume that was wishful thinking or some sort of posturing.

Either way, looks like we knew where we stood. Personally I think it is a good deal for both clubs. GWS clearly needed more cap space than their earlier trades delivered, and both parties knew it.

So in 2016 we got Prestia, Caddy plus pick 53.

Fast forward to 2022 we get Taranto, Hopper plus pick 53.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but you really have to judge a trade at the time it was made.

Players traded in can get injured, draft picks can be duds, and they too can get injured.

We will all be much wiser about getting in 2 players from GWS in a year or two, but the trade period is now and the trades should be judged on what the situation is now.

Great trade, we have a weakness in midfield and this addresses our need. We have a year or a few left in a fair number of our stars: Cotch, Jack, Martin, Lynch, Grimes, et al and they will need replacing over the next 5 years. So, we address our current need, and we plan to address future needs over the next couple of years. Combine this with the haul of 5 draft picks last year and you can see there was planning involved. This is not a half hearted effort to address our needs, it is a full blown get 2 players in and really go for it. Sure there are risks, but you gotta take risks.

Even if this doesn't work it is still a great trade, you have to judge it on how everything looks now, in the current trade period.

Yep, sure did, Cripps and co. were on fire in Rd1 and Prestia had 10 touches in the first qtr then went off in the second qtr with another hammy. In fact it would be useful to see how many games we lost without Prestia or when he was injured during the game. We need these two recruits because we can't rely on Prestia to stay healthy, Cotch is not the same as he was and of course we've lost Lambert and Edwards. Prestia now becomes a bonus, not an essential part of our mid rotations. Great recruiting.
Three come immediately to mind where we were ahead in the last quarter and clearance against hurt.

Carlton
Geelong
Brisbane in the final.

All critical obviously.

Still pinching myself.

Hopper. A Tiger. And he’s our third best mid, maybe fourth.

What a time to be a Tiger.

Loving his strong tackles, let's hope HTB is clearly understood and paid by the flogs next season.
