Welcome to the Tigers - Daniel Rioli

Definition of stupid is doing the same thing twice and expecting a different result. Our fwd transition sucked ass this year. Can't blame Rioli and George for losing confidence. We were getting nothing out of them. Do a switcheroo, let the kid regain some touch and confidence and I'm sure he'll return there once our game plan is back up and running. I reckon it's a brilliant idea and why not give him a run on ball too to get him into the game.
I think you mean insanity...

agree with this. The problem is we have to find a 2017 Rioli in the forward half. Ground ball gets are king in finals and we need to either bring across some ready made small fwds or re-invent some of our own.

I'd like to see how Short goes up forward - he's pretty quick and has played there in his junior days. Some might say he's a bit soft, but in the fwd line he'll be doing the hunting. Also he's pretty nimble and agile on his feet, has a good sidestep and good acceleration off the first few steps. Very rarely gets caught with the ball. Good feet in tight, also good kick off 1 or 2 steps. Can see him kicking some goals from limited chances in the fwd 50.
Short was recently our B and F as a half back with mega metres gained. Enough said.

I didn't mind Pickett playing forward (if he's still on our list in 2022).

He has massive closing speed, hence the hits on opponenets who think thwey are clear of danger. He would have kicked a couple of goals in his brief stint forward if it wasn't for his habit of giving off as soon as someone else asks for the ball.

Lots of lemon juice with honey.
Yeah the missus is all over it. I haven't been sick in years considering mask mandates and social distancing out here in UAE. I went out last week with the boys had a few along with the customary darts. On the weekend I was convinced I had covid. Luckily the pcr indicated otherwise.

we have lots of small crumbing forwards, they are just all shyte

We do have a surfeit of half-backs though, agree.

Still reckon Rioli ain't shyte when looking to kick goals rather than lock down space. Even George is better as a goal kicker but he can almost be a hybrid leaving others to crumb goals.

As Harry said, ground ball gets are king in finals. I'd say they are vital all year long.

Needs to get much fitter and stronger.

As the designated running defender he’s expected to cover 13-15km per game, much of that at high intensity. Will need to improve his defensive craft and concentration too.

Being a naturally good kick and a decent runner is not enough. Any weaknesses will be exploited and could cost the team dearly.

Couldn't find Daniel's thread for some reason.
Just had to write something after watching some fantastic highlights packages of our finals games during the dimmasty.
Daniel features so prominently in so many of the clutch goals that were often attributed to other players in the commentary. The creative taps, intercepts, tackles and blocks to allow other players to kick goals just kept on featuring in the highlights.
Daniel is a brilliant forward who thinks like lightning and has acute awareness. This is extremely rare. Yes, he can play half back, but that is not where we most need him. He needs some like minds around him eg Butler, Castagna, Baker? Stack? but when you are two or three goals down in a final and need a spark he is your man.

Thought he was pretty ordinary tbh. Just didn't have anywhere near the drive or influence required from half back. Will need to be better next week or others might be preferred.

He is not a defender.Barely a forward ATM.Needs to clear his head very quickly or he just might find himself used as tradebait.

Needs to go back to half forward and hunt opposition defenders, he's one of a few of clutch and mercurial goal kickers in the side.

He wont spark the Tigers from HB but he can and has done it forward.

He's not a defender.

Send Stack to HB and Dan back to HF.

Simple job and the rest will sort itself out.

He's been playing tight in the main while he learns the caper. He has given us a few glimpses of his glamour defender game.

Has the scope to be the best defender in the game imo. I'm looking forward his blooming. More ball will be a good sign. Got good numbers playing pretty tight yesterday.

Yep fantastic match. Really looks suited back there.

Still only 24 y.o (admittedly about to turn 25). Amazing really.
