Welcome to the Tigers - Daniel Rioli

Badly out of form. Never been the same since 2017 GF. Who knows if that’s the injury. Has to go back to VFL for extended period & try other positions/roles. Can no longer be carried at AFL level. Assess at end of year but think we’d be better off trading him if anyone wants him.

Re: the idea of trying DR other positions
It's a fair point - particularly if it happens that MRJ becomes the player we all hope he will. And Daniel might be struggling for a future.
Could he become a winger?
Could he play as a half-back flanker - in the Short or Bachar type role?

I’d play him on the wing at VFL level and see how he goes. Not hard enough for half back. Close to writing him off to be honest.

That's a nonsense attitude.

His life doesn't have to revolve around the score in a footy match. It's his job and in the scheme of things, it's not a very important job. He's allowed to enjoy himself.
He should be at punt rd training his ass off not in Sydney going to music festivals.
This bloke is taking the *smile*, he hasn't played a good game in 2 years but seems to walk into our best 22.
Enough is enough, bring in Dow, Cd, Ralphsmith, Ronald McDonald

How often do you go to work when you are not required to be there?

What would you like him to do, train 7 days a week? 12 hours a day? 14? 16? 18? 24?

He is just as entitled to have time off as anyone else in any other job is, and arguably more so.
The way he has been playing lately i would expect him to train 25 hrs a day
The way he is going he will have 365 days to do his own stuff next year.

never the same player after his broken foot - perhaps a mental barrier too already having 3 premiership medallions at home !

Ahhh, we now have The Contrarian up against the Mad Zipper.
One says anything to gain a reaction and one says, oh never mind
Sit back folks and enjoy the show

I think there's merit in the attitude reasoning. Probably a mixture of lack of confidence and true desire. As an example, I don't expect Rioli to be a high marking superstar but in 2017 he managed 9 contested marks. In 2020 he took zero and this year so far 2. This year he's had the lowest number of contested possessions in his career. Two good markers of desire and confidence.

I really think there’s something in that, always seem to aggravate it , gutsy effort to play on most times I’d say. In saying that i think he’s our best trade option , his name gets extra points and we have enough smalls to cover him

Problem is MC is sucked into his name as well despite his output
