looks like he has a good frame and should fill out. most excited about this pick as he addresses a massive deficiency in our list. need a few more of his type.

Same.

Re: Welcome to the Tiggers - Connor Menadue

I always remember a funny post on PRE in the Fiora days that may be applicable here for this kid.

It went something like this:
Throw him a few sides of beef and a chainsaw and lock him away in a cell! :hihi

Hopefully he puts some beef on unlike Aaron who never put much bulk onto his frame.

Yep, just a wiry bastard n seriously good footballer, if young Connor comes along nearly as well we can just call him " Bob " n be fairly happy about it.

Re: Welcome to the Tiggers - Connor Menadue

As for memories of Fiora... I've seen lean players go in hard. I've seen Tarzans play like Jane. Ultimately, everyone has a different threshold for mental toughness and all reports are Menadue is pretty good in this area for his size.

Don't get this window opening being for the immediate now or lasting only four or five years maximum.
If the drafting and structuring of the playing list is done properly then there's more than enough time beyond the excitement of a quick fart n splatter.
All three of Sydney, Geelong, Hawthorn have been up around the top of the ladder sharing the flags for the last ten years and will still be entrenched in the top half of the ladder for the 2015 season.
Even Colonwood spent about ten years playing finals n got their flag before finally fading off a bit.
We've been massively hampered in our list rebuilding obviously by the advent of Mould Coast n Gee Whizz Sydney but even so there's no reason to think we can't be at least playing finals for another seven or eight years n sniffing around for at least a few finals wins during this period.

Good point, sustained success is the goal rather than building for one top season.

The only difference is we currently have Lids, Cotch, Dusty, Jack, and Rance - five AA quality guns, all hitting their prime around the same time. We do need to strike while they're productive IMO, even if it means a slight dip for 1-2 years before 'the process' keeps us near the top.

When bob had his knee reco a few years back he was regularly in at my pub knocking back chicken parma's. Now he's captain of his club and pushing on as an old man.
Send the kid my way, i've got what he needs!

I can recall a certain David Bourke who it was said that he was told one off season to basically eat KFC it didn't help in my opinion Menadue has the same frame, be more than glad to be wrong though.

Re: Welcome to the Tiggers - Connor Menadue

doesn't need to put on that much weight. how much do hill and smith at the hawks weigh?

Or Lewis Jetta. You don't need to weigh much to tuck a footy under your arm and go like the clappers.

Re: Welcome to the Tiggers - Connor Menadue

Just get stronger in the upper body so she can get away from the contest, once he's away, good night.

I'm a fan. The boy can have a burst that changes games. Issac Smith. That is the model.

Says on the Hawks website that Smith is 188cm and 82kg. So Connor is currently listed as 69kg but I've heard he has been working to put on weight since the combine.

Hill is 181cm so not a comparable but he's only 78kg

Yep another 10 kgs to get him around 80kg and that'll do Connor, unless he morphes into a Fyfe-like monster. As I said on the first page, our best pick and the one I'm most excited about.

Re: Welcome to the Tiggers - Connor Menadue

The ideal weight for Connor would be 85/86kgs and he will get to 190cm height

Connor has just turned 18 2 months ago so he will have some growth in him still as does Ellis

If he does get to 190cm and 85-88kgs in 3-4 years (roughly the time we have had ellis at the club) - Connor Menadue will be an amazing player to watch out for

This Kid is the Grigg replacement we have been crying out for

Re: Welcome to the Tiggers - Connor Menadue

about 80Kg's will be a good playing weight. Needs to put on 10. Half of that will come as he gets a couple of years older, the other half in the gym. noticed he has a good sidestep, which will give him a yard of space, and a thumping kick on the run where he doesn't need to slow down or stutter his run. Looking forward to him running through the 50 and nailing the goal. Hopefully we see alot of it.

Agreed.

80 kg's would be a good weight for his height. He should be able to put on at least 5 in 2015. At least.

Re: Welcome to the Tiggers - Connor Menadue

Love this pick.

Glad he lasted to 33. Exactly what we need in the 22 right now however. Needs another 10kg like others have said.

Yep, this young pencil has a step, a pretty decent burst n a strong hoof. Obviously going to grow another ten to twelve kegs as he fills into his frame in a few years time. To much weight n bulk just slows players down n sets them up for continual injury niggles. He's gunna be a fun youngster to watch develop over the next few years.

Re: Welcome to the Tiggers - Connor Menadue

Can't wait to see what this kid will be like with 50 games and 10 kilos under his belt.

Re: Welcome to the Tiggers - Connor Menadue

Really looking forward to watching this kid as he has serious wheels and cuts a swathe through the field and kicks really well. People will wonder in a couple of years time how we acquired him.
