I reckon Bradtke has been underwhelming and I don’t see “it” in him but he may get his chance with such a shortage of key forwards.

Would rather pick Trezise and play him as 3rd tall

It's just taken Bauer half a season last year and all of this season to get a look at a senior game and he came from a higher level of comp than Bradtke. Bradtke needs another pre season end of this year plus then some hopefully premium VFL performances early next season before we should seriously consider him for AFL level. Might get thrown into seniors early next year with Jaaack retiring, but I'd hope we can set up with the Lynch man, Samsung, Funky n Bauer as the main forward contenders to start with

He seems to be a bit "heavy legged" to me, a plodder I suppose. The club listed him so they obviously see something in him. At the moment I can't see him making it to AFL level, but, I've been wrong many times before. I know it's early days in his career, I truly hope he makes it but we'll have to wait & see.

Actually thought Thursday was his best game, Took some strong marks and hit up well to the wings. Showed a bit.

He looks like a bit of a lumberer, and that running style! Wow. The big wrap on him was his athleticism but I haven't seen any of it. But I wish him well.

Def on the improve , reckon he needs to really grab a game by the scruff and kick 4+ to be on the radar , he’s threatening and going in right direction

He's come up from bush footy to VFL level so that's a fair step to start with. Big bodied bloke so looks a bit top heavy n could probably lose up to five kegs and try to build some lower core strength and a bit more tank. Hopefully he might surprise a few of us by late next year as I'm thinking there's enough to work with. Think he might be another who could find a bit more of that desperate narky prick in his game, plays a bit nicely at the moment from what I've seen.

Reckon there’s a bit to work with , coming from a long way back and no doubt still adjusting to the disciplines of been an AFL player , big pre season and we may have a much improved player.

Yep agree I actually think his last 2 vfl games have been really promising starting to clunk some good marks. He missed a few weeks from injury to.

He looks to have really bulked up last 18mth , yea could lose a few kegs build his tank and give himself the very best chance at making it

Kevin Sheehan's opinion pre -draft

Kaelan Bradtke
State: Victoria Country
State League Club: Sydney Swans VFL
Community Club: Corowa Rutherglen
Date of Birth: 21/05/01; Height: 195cm; Weight: 97kg

Really caught the eye with some outstanding performances for Corowa Rutherglen in the Ovens & Murray league earlier in the year, earning an invitation to play with the Sydney Swans in the VFL. Highly regarded by his coach at Corowa Rutherglen, former North Melbourne star and experienced development coach Peter German.

His 2.98 seconds in the 20m sprint at the Melbourne-based 2022 NAB AFL State Draft Combine confirmed his speed off the mark.

Other snippets - Able to play tall at either end of the ground, he booted 39 goals from 17 games this season - including a streak of 10 games with at least one, and a high of five goals.

Peter German, ex North Melbourne player rates him as one of the best athletes he's worked with.

"Possessing great speed and agility, Bradtke was held in high regard at Rooland under with former Roos’ coach and185-gamer with North Melbourne Peter German describing him, “in the top five athletes I’ve coached in 30 years. He’s a unique specimen of an athlete, a quality tall.”

Re his 20 metre sprint which was at the Melbourne combine
2.98 would place him just outside the top 10, not bad for 195cm!!
10th spot was 2.951, he ran 2.98.
He was faster than anyone from S.A. -Philippou (2.993), Keeler (3.019), Michalanney 3.028.

20m Sprint Result (seconds)
1 2.814 Edward Allan
2 2.880 Toby McMullin
3 2.883 Coby Burgiel
4 2.910 James Van Es
5 2.912 Darcy Jones
6 2.924 Olli Hotton
7 2.928 Reuben Ginbey
8 2.928 Cooper Vickery
9 2.937 Josh Weddle
10 2.951 Lloyd Johnston

2.98 don't put him far off 2.951
Time for a look at this specimen against North - give him a taste and give Jack a little chop out
