Of all people, the captain of Collingwood has publicly labeled out entire club as "gutless".
Tigers were gutless
I am painfully aware of the result of last Saturday's game, but I feel this insult must not go unanswered. PLEASE Richmond football club, respond to this accusation.

How happy you must be Mick Malthouse, I presume you endorse these comments about your former club? I have never hated Collingwood more that I do today.

when I heard this yesterday, I started looking forward to the game next year

The sad thing is he maybe correct. It starts and finishes with Jake King doesn't it. Haven't seen any footage yet of why Jake King struck Didak, but if it was after him receiving an elbow somewhere as I've been told it was, then that's just footy and heavy tagging sadly (the retaliator is usually the one caught) - but if Jake was unprovoked as I suspect - then.........

Im pretty sure Maxwell was referring to those Richmond players who instigated the trouble not ALL our players collectively. I read his comments in the paper today and cerainly got that impression.
Besides, our players let the club down! If only their aggression was aimed at the ball we would have won a lot more respect on saturday.

I saw the interview and he was at pains to say he was only talking about some players.

If I was Jake, I'd throw down the guantlet. say a boxing match with the courageous Collingwood skipper post season.

This could actually be our line in the sand moment. If I was Rawlings I'd make a statement along the lines that Maxwell would probably be disappointed with his comments and that at least we weren't Hair pullers and biters, or only had the nads to take on jake king with three mates in tow while Jakey was lying on the ground

Seize the day tiges

hilarious that maxwell of all players is making those comments, one of the most gutless players ive seen. can dish it, but take it.

Three Colingwood players jumped on Kingy after he tackled Didak! that's what started the melee. Who is gutless?

Yup, good points, I can't stand multiple players ganging up on 1.

Well one thing he said was true - we dont have many players that put their head over the ball in the heat of battle.

#1 rule if you dont put your head over the ball in the heat of battle we will help you find a new career path.

Wildly overdramatic by Maxwell. I was very dissapointed with Rawling's very measured response. He should have publicly stuck up for the team better.
Maxwell said it awas unfair as they had finals coming up and could not respond to the fighting. TOUGH LUCK!!!
First of all, our players do have something to play for - their careers. New coach next year, complete overhaul (hopefully) Being rubbed out for 3-4 weeks or longer could be the difference between being cut or not.
Secondly, it was no blood-bath. What King does it what Deledio gets most weeks. If he broke the rules, fine, he will pay the price and get suspended.
Go back over the last 2 -3 years and you will find far worse incidents by Collingwood players (like Ben Johnsons head high bump, I forget against who), than Hislop's stupid elbow.
Privately rip into them for being soft and not showing any aggresion at the footy when it counts, but don't let the worse player ever to captain collingwood throw some cheap shots

Unfortunately I have to agree with Maxwell. We were gutless and have been for most of the season. Whether we win or lose we need to show serious intent at the ball and for the team but unfortunately except for a few players week in, week out we've been pretty terrible. Round 1 against the Blues was the start of our gutless performances and it hasn't got much better since. If we want to prove anything, lets prove it on the scoreboard. As much as I can't stand Collingwood at least they play like a team desperate to win.

I think the image of Maxwell cowering when Sloppy confronted him will haunt Maxwell for some time. His true toughness certianly shined through.

Watching the melee a few times now I was glad to see our boys fly the flag and force the Pies to descend into their true hair pulling, finger biting selves.

But, it would have been a better statement if we hadn't dropped a further 50 points to the Pies after the incident happened. It's that part of the weekend that makes us look silly.

Unfortunately all too painfully true

The whole gutless attitude stems from the board down...afterall they are the ones who have proven themselves to be too weak at times to make tough calls....then it flows down the foodchain to the coaches and then the players.

Some tough calls and some tough action......that is all that will change the culture that Jade so correctly identified and which stops us from moving on

you're kidding me arent you, didak was the one who didnt put his head over the ball and crunched into Cogs head, its so funny hearing maxwell an average player at best and an embarrassment to the number 5...

How about he come out and talk about didak jibbing the contest and praising cogs for putting his head over the ball, ahh thats right he'd look stupid saying that and contradicting himself...

And another thing maxwell has been known over his career to be a sniper hitting players heads whilst trying to spoil marks, yes for some reason he always connects to the players head, now thast weak and u wouldnt expect anything less from one of the most average captains in the AFL....

correct, king tackled didak fairly and 3 players went over him the first being trakyn lockyer, that weakling wouldnt size up to king standing up took the easy root whilst king was on the ground...

I'm embarrassed we played *smile* and lost the game. I'm not embarrassed about the punch on. On ya Jake. Someone had to do something. Who knows what that tool Didak said or did. Sloppy gave Maxwell a lesson in jumping punching he won't forget for a while. *smile* em.

Thing that gets me about this all is it was Collingwood trying to retaliate against King in a separate incident of play that started it with Lockyer and a few others jumping on him trying to slip in a couple of sly ones when King was on the ground that started it all in the first place.

Not so sure how its all our fault.

Saw Didak give Tuck a couple of *smile* slaps too, but back pedaled pretty quickly after that.
