VFL list changes

Archie May still a chance for a rookie spot somewhere, or Essendon could just draft him.

Brindley, Harris and Olden you think would be getting bigger $'s elsewhere.

Disappointed to lose May, he was really starting to show something, I'm sure we'll keep an eye on him at Subi.

Does anyone know whether there is more money available playing in the WAFL and SANFL.

A lot of players move there when they are not in AFL lists.

Maybe it has something to do with there being more opportunity as there aren’t as many unaffiliated clubs in the VFL.

The WAFL salary cap has increased by $19,000 for next season as part of a three-year plan that was agreed upon this week by the West Australian Football Commission.
The salary cap will increase to $264,000 in 2025 before it will go up to $275,000 in 2026 and $285,000 in 2027

SANFL
14 Nov 2023 — With the allowances, each club's total salary cap will be $345,000 in 2024, $360,000 in 2025 and $375,000 in 2026

I suspect West Coast (McQualter) is looking closely at him for a possible rookie spot or possibly via MSD.

“ Richmond VFL is closing in on Coburg’s Tom McKenzie.”

From 2018:
Tom McKenzie
Drafted from: Northern Knights/Vic Metro/Ivanhoe Grammar
Height: 183cm
Weight: 71kg
DOB: 23/6/2000
Position: Defender/Midfielder

North Melbourne has selected Tom McKenzie with its first pick in the 2018 Rookie Draft.

Able to play across half-back or through midfield, McKenzie is blessed with elite pace, recording the fastest 20m sprint time at the 2018 Draft Combine.

McKenzie is a strong contributor off half-back with his speed, but is able to pick up plenty of the ball in as an inside midfielder, averaging 23 disposals for the Northern Knights in 2018.

McKenzie’s versatility was on show at the combine, recording the equal second-best score in the goal-kicking test.

The former Northern Knight lists his disposal efficiency and decision making among his strengths.

I never rated May as I thought he was too slow and lazy at the contest. I think the club probably felt the same as if they had an inkling of interest in him they would've picked him up in the MSD before Blight or Gray. Or as a rookie , but they clearly weren't interested.
