Umpire farce - Getting worse by the minute!

You really are clutching at straws.

The rule reads the same as it did in 1970, the grammar and the sentence are the same with a couple of words different.

There is no evidence of a rule change to the handball rule since 1966, have a look here: https://www.afl.com.au/about-afl/history/rule-changes It is a pretty badly put together page but there is no change to the definition of a handball.

In any case, this started when you claimed that they should never have allowed players to handball from above their head. As I pointed out, and as the rules show, that was never outside the definition of a handball.

That link looks like a 10 year olds school project it switched to the women halfway through.

All I’m going to say is some pretty important things happened in the 53 year gap in your rules books. I remember a moustached coach winning a grand final by getting handball going after which it took off in the game. I also know because TBR told me there was a couple of big changes in how the rules were controlled in that period. I’ll stick with him on this one.

Fine, no evidence of a change in the definition of a handball, you can believe whatever and whoever you like, me, I'll stick with the evidence of the rule book.

If I could be bothered, which I can't, I'm sure there are versions of the rules between 1970 and 2020 out there, and there will be no change to the definition of a handball.

Willing to walk back the assertion that it used to be the case that handballing above your head was against the rules? There is no evidence of that and plenty of evidence it was never ever the case.

Oh, and I am not responsible for the woefulness of the AFL website, or even the woefulness of the AFL overall and the standard of umpiring. I'm just pointing to the rules they publish and pointing out what they say.

Controlled? Is that changed or? Did the defintion change?

There must have been some interperative change because the throw has crept into football. Probably over the last 10 years but particulary in recent years. There is no doubt it's a directive designed to reduce congestion. If you watched every replay and highlighted the illegal handballs there would be a minimum of 10 a game. I have noticed a few more being picked up in recent weeks. Is it coincidence that appears to be after Montagna's Bulldog throwshow video 6 weeks ago? I notice Cripps had a few paid against him recently. Look at that video again, you could produce that same thing every bulldogs game.

The scoop or shovel (open handed throw forward) is illegal according to the definition but is so common now.

Keep looking though the truth is out there and I’ve said enough to show you where to look.

The last 3 weeks we have got 9, 14 and 10 frees. I would like to see the 50 mtr penalties differential. I am sure we are last on that as well.

That's unbelievable that Dogs can have an average of 14 frees better differential than us over a 12 game period.

No, not unbelievable, just normal for the last 6 or 7 years.

It's a farce.

Also don't think those figures are correct anyway! Maybe 2022 figures?

Yeah, I'd be surprised if that was accurate, we've been doing ok by the umps so far this season, nothing like previous seasons.
