Anyone able to pull stats for 300 gamers 300th game? Cotch's would have to be up there surely, nothing resembling limping to the line

Parker is a little legend. Great left foot. There's footage somewhere of he running towards the banner and punching a hole in it before the players went through it. Funny stuff.
Noticed he of the 3 kids refused to join the club for the song. Maybe too young and was perhaps scared or an individual and has his own way of doing things.

Back playing where he belongs. Legs aren't what they were, but in a long season and heavier grounds/wetter & colder conditions, the game comes back to him. The class never disappears and that's what the past few weeks have shown. I suspect he'll finish the season really well.

What a 300th, Chimpah!:clap2
Was everywhere.
Also added bonus.
We all know what his son is called!
I think his name was mentioned 300 times as well.

Can anyone recall other players having 3 kids getting piggy backed?
Was laughing my head off saying, Wow 1200 games of experience right there!:))

Feels like treachery & I hate asking this question but with selection headaches looming are we now at the point where Cotch is holding young players back?
Not Yet.

Chimpa can at the least come off the bench to attack the oppo hard at centre bounces fresh and ready.

Not treachery at all - he is holding back development for sure - he has to be because its stopping a younger mid getting that amount of exposure. But he is still clearly the better player (when not shooting for goal) and is calm and composed when using it and can apply some crazy inside pressure. While finals are still on the cards, he needs to play.

His footy smarts are also still needed. The work he did on Sicily in the last quarter that led to Jack's goal was classic.

The reason I have to ask the question is because the 300th game vs the Saints aside his numbers aren't great & show clear signs of a players who's in decline.
Yes he still has some big moments (as you'd expect) but unless you have the blinkers on plenty of mistakes are creeping into his game too.

It wasn't just the crucial missed goals vs the Hawks. Though his poor kicking for goal is a liability when we need goalkickers. He also went at 39% disposal efficiency.

Like everyone else I want to see him play forever & have the perfect fairy tale finish.
However I also have one eye on the future.

Short, Ross, Graham..these players should be selected ahead of him now.

We are seeing the impact a player like Coulthard might have if given a chance. Banks too should have his best footy in front of him.
Cumberland is languishing in the VFL. As is Sonsie, Clarke & others. They need snr footy.

Good teams are loading up with fast, hungry young footballers.

I'm just posing the question. He's done it all & you'd be mad to write off a champion but is safe* best as we head towards the pointy end?

This thread was 5 pages back before I bumped it. It's an elephant in the room.

disagree. I don't think there is an elephant, not even a baby one. If we had young guns queuing up for selection, maybe, and if he wasn't still contributing, maybe. Still earning his dough, even if he ain't what he used to be, which is not up for debate. The young players we have got, which isn't as many as we'd like, ask them if they would like to run out with Cotch if they can get a game, you can't buy that.

Banks and Coulthard are in the side, you could argue Banks hasn't really set the world on fire so its not like comp for spots is super red hot Cotch or no Cotch. Cumbo Clarke and Sonsie are in the VFL 'cos their form isn't good enough. Simple. I want Cotch in the side until the end of the season, which will be his last, and soak it up.

All valid arguments. I sure wouldn't be the one to tap Jack or Cotch on the shoulder. I guess we are either going to live or die by the sword & carry them off whenever it ends.

Cotchin keeps playing until someone demands his spot through undeniable form. Sonsie should be beating down the door to take his spot. The reality is, he's not, and that's a blight on Sonsie cos' Cotch isn't setting the world on fire. It's been a wasted year for Sonsie, he's been very disappointing. Cotch is not holding him back. He's not taking his opportunity!

It is a valid question and applies also to Jack.

Mini was asked the same question in his press conference after the Eagles game and said that the players concerned had earned the right to make their own decisions on the matter.

Have to respect the thinking behind it but not so sure about Mini’s approach.
Extremely difficult for players as they are being asked to weigh up all issues.

Personal issues aside, making the right call as you point out, also includes the the taking of development space, as well as the possibility that playing on until the end of the season will also impact on the teams capacity to win the games we need to win to play finals.

Leaving such matters to the players concerned is appropriately respectful but it is also asking a hell of a lot.
