Trent Cotchin (Merged)

Has he had the surgery?

Is it just being reported now?

Surely we haven't waited till Tuesday to get scans, surgery?? We played on Thursday.
Waiting till the swelling has dissipated is why there routinely is delay with orthopedic surgery.

But the talk of it being a small crack as opposed to an obvious clavicular fracture, also would have had him waiting an extra day or two before it was decided to be checked.

Minor surgery that one for the Great Chimp.

all the hits, bumps and bangs Cotch has bounced up from, and he gets broken by Jack Martin? f' me!
It was a surprise to me, at the time I thought wow, Jack Martin has toughs. He bulldozed Cotch, he had plenty of momentum sure, but he did it. Cotch would have stuck it with most players I reckon.

Time to give Ross another crack at inside mid I reckon.
He knows he wants it, now go get it!
I didnt like our chances this week anyway v the sooks - but with Cotch out, Lambert looking really sore (will he even play?), Edwards looking tired (Neil Balme's words on SEN on Friday interviewed by Dwayne Pipe) and Dusty wont be anywhere near his best, a lot of experienced midfielders down and out.

Even before Balta and Tarrant are out.

No time like the present I guess to chuck in Ross and one other young mid. Who's the next in line do you think Caesar and co?

I went to the VFL v Coburg game and watched the 2nd Half live then rewatched the stream to really look at the young mids.
Still dont see it with RCD.
Still not sure about Dow (hope I'm wrong).
Sonsie is very classy but didnt do enough for mine.
I dont think Cumberland (who I have been wanting to see in the ones) has great stamina/fitness.
I also dont think Stack can see out a whole match.
Did very little but i liked Brown - a couple of mistakes but very polished.
Not enough action from Banks to form an opinion.

Honestly thought Ross, Aarts, Castagna and Rioli looked like the only ones with the fitness to play out a whole game in the seniors.

I'm reading "clavicle", "crack", "near the sternum" and "plate". Are these congruent?

What are the PRE medicos thinking? Plate to clavicle. Is it Cotchin saying two weeks? (Love his optimism, if so.)
Yep if it is a small crack that is linear and it has been plated for reinforcement and expedites healing 2 weeks is not out of the question.

Wont be out too long if its being plated if indeed its a crack and not a complete fracture. Possibly 2 weeks

Will give the great Skipper Chip a couple weeks to freshen right up and hit the run home ready and rearing rumble just when we want him and his best.

Will need extra center bounce attendances from Tiger King, Fridge and Shai the next 2 weeks.
Good news then. He won't be needed against West Coast so can have two weeks off. Would like to see him at Carrara the week after for my own selfish reasons that I dont really want to see us get done by GC who are looking like a good team at home.

The clavicle (collarbone) is a long, thin, slightly curved bone that connects your arm to your body. It sits below your neck and is part of the front of your shoulder. It runs horizontally (from side to side). This bone connects your sternum in the middle of your ribcage to your shoulder blade (scapula)

Yes, Willo, but if it's a crack would you plate it? And if it's near the sternum, how?

Really? I thought Stack and Cumberland were much better than Aarts and were consistent the whole game. Cumberland was injured in the last though and has struggled with injuries this year.

Rioli played well but didn't get a disposal in the 2nd. He is still quite inconsistent. Castagna best not to say anything.

With Dusty coming back seems unlikely that any of the above will come in. Will be interesting to see selections this week.

Isnt it interesting how we all see a game differently Tigerlove.

Did you mean Rioli didnt get a possie in the 2nd Qtr or 2nd Half? He got a few possies in the 2nd Half, including the 360 blind turn ala Pickett in the centre that led to Stack's goal in the 3rd Q from memory. Thought his stamina and run was good all game. I think he played midfield as well as forward.

I dont know, prob just me, Stack and Noah play in too short bursts and dont seem to have stamina for much more than the F50 arc. I know we arent a high possie team, but playing them when we have some 'risky' (ageing ) mids who arent keeping up with 2 way running seems risky.

Interesting quote, bob.
I thought so too Jack. 10 min interview, interesting discussion from Balmey about the balance of playing the young blokes v the old champs - discusses Shane about 3.30 min in.

Chimp out for just 1 week after operation? I suppose he'll play with the mental plate in his shoulder.

Broke my clavicle 21 years ago, didn't operate and now my left shoulder is shorter than the right.

He also made this point on one of the recent Club podcasts. He speaks pretty openly and i expect this same sort of conversation will be part of the possible retirements discussion later in the year.

Rioli 2nd quarter no possies. Flying 1st quarter 9 disposals. A lot of games where he doesn't see a lot of the ball in quarters but his defensive pressure is enormous. He's only young, plenty of time. Noah, most time I see him he's quite impressive. And some undersell his defensive efforts, thought he was defensively great, had 6 tackles, most in the team. He's done a lot of things right, kicked plenty of goals and at some stage you have to at least give them a go, some players excel at the higher level.

Stack I think he needs to string a few good games together but if he plays like he did on Sunday especially after quarter time, he'll be back in for sure. With Clarke doing ok, MRJ, Cumberland, Stack in the reserves I find it hard to see how Castagna and especially Aarts get back in.
