I've been saying it all year but there's no more skirting it. Cotchin looks completely cooked.
2nd or third week in a row his direct opponent has dominated & had a major impact on the result.
Lots of candidates but the Skipper is our no1 barometer. He sets the scene for others to follow his lead but for whatever many reasons he's fallen off a cliff this season.
The team looks rudderless & he's battling with his own form. It's definitely his last season.
No matter what happens he's a legend of the Richmond FC but he's almost done.
No chance. Just got back from the match. He needs to be rested (which won't happen). I think he will be better next week with Nank back in as he does the bullocking work before and after Cotch. If he does not improve with Nank in he needs to be rested/dropped. He basically just fell on the ball all night. He can't keep his feet. That is a sure sign you are cooked. We need to be ruthless and he needs to be selfless and retire at the end of the year. RCD is a much better option for a clearance and is like for like in terms of contested possession. I cringed when RCD came in the middle in the 3rd term for memory and Cotchin pointed him to the forward line. He did nothing at the bounce apart from fall over. RCD could not have done any worse.Any chance to go to half back, or somewhere else?
Jack took some good grabs tonight but both Cotch and Houli have had recent history of repeated soft-tissue injuries to H/s and calves which means too much scar tissue in areas that need fast-twitch muscle fibres => less speed and agility which is exactly what we are seeing. They need a spell to freshen up but we have too many injuries. Houli may have an ankle injury from the last qtr so that will give him a break but we lose another premiership back.Totally up to the Tiger legend of he go’s on , however all those bone crunching inspirational acts are making the end closer then it should be , I don’t think the Skips going any worse then Jack or Houli and they have all earnt the right for another year, however I don’t think we can expect too much from the trio going forward
Nice post. Dimma's angry wombat! My dream for a bloke who completely re-invented himself to help the team was always that with a (3) Premiership(s) he would step back and let someone else do the bullocking work. He was an outstanding mid in his early career and I doubt he's lost anything above the shoulders. Smart players don't run faster, if they can think/react faster. That was always his skill before he turned himself into Dimma's angry wombat. He could track the ball 3-4 moves ahead and beat his opponents with smarts and skill. He taught the entire AFL how to slip the ball onto your boot when you are caught in a 1-arm tackle. He was doing it 3 years before the rest. He's like Shark Lavay. "Made a quantum leap in the game." So like Shark he should get to finish up with honour and dignity.
Houli was more effective than Cotchin. At least Houli can still walk. Cotchin cant even do that.I don't have Cotchin dead and buried just yet.
The whole side looks shot.
Houli goes first he is certainly finished.
Cotchie has had impacts this year in some big games but no continuity, he's also had off field distractions.
I' m prepared to cut our Great Skipper Chimp some slack.
in our house we call him "the conductor of the orchestra"He could track the ball 3-4 moves ahead and beat his opponents with smarts and skill.
It's his signature 3 step power burst into the contest that's missing. I'd say that's the repeated hamstring injuries that's halted it.
For a champion who's built his reutation as a contested ball beast, he's finding it extremely hard to get to the ball first. Those one or two steps are crucial to the Chimp's game.
