Loved Spike Milligoon, an absolute comic genius.

His movie "Adolph Hitler, My Part In His Downfall" . Supposedly his "life story", was very funny, though it would be very dated now.

Never saw the film but my dad had those books which I loved, he did one called Mussolini, My Part in His Downfall as well... perfectly captured the absurdity, humour, incompetence, boredom and horror of war.

Well done Jason.

I wasn't always against it, but changed where it would identify my kids. It took time for my wife to understand my point of view though.

There's multiple dangers for kids, including:
Identity theft - easy to find DoB, maiden names etc.
No control over their privacy. There's so much out about them, they have lost control of their story before being able to consent to losing it
Mental health issues - parents tend to post all the "best" of their children growing up, which leads to kids having anxiety issues because they only see value in those "proud parent" moments, which you can't replicate every day.
A friend of extended family is a child psychologist. They are already dealing with this now, and Facebook has only been around ~17 years.

Just a few examples.

I won't criticise Brooke, other than to say she's probably ill informed. That picture of her kids has already been shared outside of instagram. She probably needs some education rather than scorn.
Excellent post!

Went deeper than I did and said it better. Top stuff @The_General ;)

To be a little light-hearted, at the height of my doting dad phase I would post regularly on Facebook with pics of my daughter and by chance I saw on my cousin's timeline they liked this;

I kid you not, It's legitimately what made me stop and research the effects of our social media habits on our children :D

Once you monetise your private life basically as your 'brand' then that's when things get really murky.
It's not anyone's business? Then don't make it anyone's business.

She put something out on unsocial media - when you do that, you've just made it everyone's business.
Everyone's business? Not mine. It's the loud minority who make big deal out of it or think they have a god given right to make judgement. I'm here for the footy, not the Days of our Lives.

Who even knew Brooke before the COVID breach? Who heard much after the breach? People revel in trying to find faults. It's a sad world sometimes.

I hear you, Oldie. But still, if you don't like it, ignore it. What that Tony *smile* did is pathetic.

Let me rephrase my point, if you don't want the public to scrutinise things you do, don't make things public.
If you invite people into your life in a public forum, you have to realise that you're going to get feedback you may not want to hear.
I don't give a crap about the Cotchins outside of footy, nor any other player. But if you do the stuff mentioned above, then complain about the consequences, I'd suggest not all the wires are connected in the upstairs circuit board.

Ripper post. We are about to see the first generation of children who have had their lives broadcast to the world by their parents. No child gives consent to this and yes parents give consent to so much more until children become adults but in what way is the child advantaged by having their lives recorded so publicly in perpetuity? I don't know why anyone who personally does not know the Cotchins is even remotely interested in their children. I find that quite creepy. And rather arrogant of the parents. I only wish the child well and a long happy life for all but need to know nothing else.

His books are hilarious. Monty : My part in his Victory.
Aide de camp: Sir I have brought up your breakfast
Officer: Serves you right for eating it.

Damn he is so crucial to how we play. His work in traffic is top shelf and keeps the ball going our way.
