Trent Cotchin (Merged)

Is 4 weeks the tip? He didn’t look liked he tore it, just tweaked it. I was hoping 2 weeks.

Talking to a few learned colleagues pre game, Leysy's biggest fear was when Geelong (as all teams do) get a run on how we would cope without the Champion Chimp.

The answer was there to see. Dimma spoke about Geelongs ability to step through our tackles. Goliath doesn't step through a Chimp tackle.

Some guys are bigger than any stats tell you. Chimp and Grimes are ours. They cover for so many teammates and get things going back our way when the real heat is on against us.

Controversial opinion - They are as, if not more important to us in big games than anyone on our list. Dusty included.

If Dion is out. We can win. If Dusty is concussed, I guess we could still win.

If Cotchin is out too we are cattletrucked. BTW he makes short work of the Joel Selwoods of this world.

He is as tough as Selwood, except his eyebrows aren't made of tissue paper.

He's faster, so he can smash in harder.

His intensity is the same, but his intention is to get the ball moving our way in play, not to draw a free kick and stop it.

His skills are sharper, so if an opponent is hot on him, he uses the ball rather than tuck it under himself and throw his head into an arm.

He's a three time premiership captain rather than a no time nothing.

All true, unfortunately Cotch's hammies seem to be made of tissue paper too these days, and it hurts me to write that.

Selwood ‘is not fit to tie the Chimp’s bootlaces’

Joel Selwood and Trent Cotchin are both absolute champions. And almost the same footballer.

Trying to destroy Selwood to build up Cotch doesn't need to happen.

Disagree Scoop. One is a champion with integrity as the cornerstone of his on field traits, the other is a recognised ducker who consistently whinges to umpires for free kicks.

Both are tough, hard at it inspirational leaders. Any team would be wrapped to have either of them.

One is a Triple Premiership Captain Brownlow medallist, one isn't.

Not trying to destroy Selwood.

I said he is as tough, focused and intense as Cotchin. Can't be much higher praise than that.

They are almost the same player. Except the little differences between them are everything.

The difference between Cotchin and Selwood is if they are going for the same ball Cotchin will get it.

He is a great player , but the facts a there he plays for free kicks and umpires get sucked in no doubt about it.

Selwood would fit beautifully alongside Travis Boak and Robbie Gray

They are both champions but I don’t agree that they are the same footballer

Cotchin is a much classier and fairer player

Also harsh but true, only one of them will remember their career

Selwood's been a top player and was a great captain well before Cotchin. Even the shrug thing is Selwood making the rules work for him; not his fault the likes of Hocking never saw fit to counter it with a rule change. It's only the actual diving that I detest, the going to ground to pinch a free kick. He's an otherwise admirable player.

Still, it must eat him that his finals record is 6-13 (Cotchin 10-5).
