Trent Cotchin (Merged)

The club will take it to court if he gets suspended mark it down- the CEO is a lawyer ffs! I would've thought the afl would want to avoid that at all costs this week leading into a GF. Was it his back that hits shields chin? Can't have guys going around throwing their backs into blokes...... :spin

AFL need to make this nice and swift with little controversy this week... Clear him, Sloane and the rest of them and move on to probably the biggest GF build up of all time.

Get ready.
MRP has been inconsistent all year and has shown evidence of favouritism for many years.
Cotch likely to be found guilty of rough conduct and fined and suspended.
Appeal unsuccessful and what a great AFL publicity exercise.
Hope it's just the old cynic in me!
Can't win without him.

Hasn't he stepped up to the challenge brilliantly ?

A sensational pair of games...brutal and hungry and inspirational...a true leader..

Voss. Must be thrilled to of been compared to cotchin by lethal

This!
I loved Voss as a player. One of the greatest crimes against footy is that buckley got that Norm Smith (voted on at 3/4 time!) after Voss had stolen the Flag from the filth almost single-handed.

I reckon Chimp is better than Voss.

Another mess created by the silly system of ratings, points and demerits whatever created by the AFL. Further points:

- earlier penalties incurred by Cotchin; he got off with fines because very minor. Lonie one, hit his forearm, no jumper punch, never even hit his torso, Lonie staged. Against Freo, did hit the jaw because he took his eye off Neale who moved. Cotch hit him unintentionally, not even looking at him
- with Shiel, could not have gone in lower; certainly aims to bump him hard and fair, with eyes totally on the ball. Seeking to knock him aside in order to take possession which is exactly what he did. No intentional contact to the head. Accidental, does contact Shiel's chin with his back because he is not even looking at him, eyes for the ball only
- thus if Sloane gets off, Cotchin must too. Otherwise same - accidental head contact when the ball is in dispute
- Ellis incident, plus Walker's elbow to Mackie's head, potentially worse, but will be dismissed as 'in the heat of the game'. Applies the same for Cotchin
- no certainty that Shiel received concussion in this episode. Clutches his sore shoulder. May have occurred later e.g. from Astbury bump
- missing a GF CANNOT POSSIBLY BE RATED THE SAME. It may be a player's only opportunity in a 15 year career. Cotchin cannot miss due to some chaotic points/penalties/merits system devised by an AFL bureaucrat who cut and ran because it created so much mess.

Sorry if all this has been said but have been really irritated by the media commentary such as G. Lyon

Glad we have balmy at the club ,
If found guilty , he will have plan b in place , club has to do whatever is required, he must play

They said there were "10 or 11" things they had to look at, and the longest MRP meetings have gone in the past is about 90 minutes.

LTRTR I read what he said as the longest they've deliberated "on a single incident" is 90 minutes.

So if all 10 or 11 incidents take 90 minutes each we'll know sometime in the early hours tomorrow. :p

Ah you're probably right. Easier for them to just give the all clear and hit the golf course.
