Training Today Full version:
150 minute session again, about 20 minute warm up, and 80 minutes of drills teaching system and shuttles and then 2 X 20 minutes match play with umpires.
VFL captain Lachie Street and several other VFL boys involved to make up the numbers.
So it was basically the A team (especially in the mid-field), with a few match-ups in other positions.
The starting midfields for first half for example were:
Nank Prestia Taranto Hopper vs
Ryan Dow George Marlion
As expected it didn't matter whether Ryan won the tap, he performed quite well against Nank and also kicked a goal against the flow, and I don't care about how inferior the opposition mid were but Tarranto, Hopper and Prestia were like wow wow wow! How could GWS not play Taranto full time mid?
*I have a watch on Prestia, he disappeared from match sim after only 10 minutes and didn't see his exit, didn't notice him watching from the sidelines either and not out there for the full team photo at the end, surely he hasn't been cursed again?
Stars of Match Sim in order :
Taranto
Dusty 2 goals playing forward, roaming high, a couple of don't argues.
Hopper
Cotch 4 goals playing forward
Jack 3 goals
Rioli good off half back.
Positional :
Cumbo wing or at the very least high half forward and was in the play quite a lot
Ross half back
Narkle half back and although he got a bit of the ball his man was Cotch
Steely spent a little bit of time mid and that was when I noticed Prestia was missing.
Angry Pills:
Samson and Bakes had a bit of a scrap instigated by Ryan who tried rip Bake's head off, Vlaustin had to pull him off, (don't mind it, we need a bit of Nank to rub off onto him )
Specky and Class :
Shai : It is rare not to witnessed something spectacular and breathtaking where Shai is concerned not only did he take the specky in another instance he made two players look stupid in one bit of play he was running full pace straight at the opposition and then a one step baulk around one and then immediately a one step baulk around another, (picture his one night in Brisbane baulk against Crying Bryan when he delivered to Lynch in the square, he left two crying Bryan's in his wake today )
Trained but no match play:
Shorty & Junior
Liked:
Rutten standing with Gibcus throughout match sim on boundary giving him pointers.
Tylar Young walking boundary and joined in a small amount of rehab so he appears to have escaped that sickening head clash on Monday with just concussion
Rehab
Graham did virtually nothing in rehab so I am a bit doubtful he is tracking as well as they suggest?
Colina just taking a stroll again
Kaleb Smith was in a Moon Boot.
Lynch & Sonsie the only ones do anything of note in rehab, (and no I don't know what is up with Sonsie).
**Final note: It was a bit of one way traffic so if you were at the opposite end to the way Taranto & Hopper were kicking you didn't get to see much ball
That might be it folks until after the boys get back from camp, I believe they head off Monday the 30th?
