Training For 2023

whats your first impressions of Seth

Just looked at Seth to see who he was, was hitting targets in very low key circuit work whereas with Kaleb he side-stepped Cumberland and burst away as Noah made a concerted effort to tackle him, a little bit later he closed in quickly on Cumberland forcing a hurried and grubby kick and got a shout of approval from Grimes and a silent one from me:)

Not sure about what others are thinking but my view about drafting Young is that in 12 -18 months time
He would be the player that replaces Tarrant as the KPD that is played deepest

Lets hope in this time frame he can develop to this level with being around Tarrant , Grimes , Broad , Vlastuin under the guidance of Truck and playing against Lynch , Jack and Noah
Agreed if tracks how we hope , he should be ready to go , was a great choice as kid showed lots of promise , moves well strong mark and well built , being FT footy player should only accelerate his development

Tarrant arrived at Punt road well past his best and a slow coach. He will be going well if he keeps Young out by round 3.

Probably our best defender in the second half of the year
Was awful between R1 through to 3QT of R13 game at the G against Port.

Flipped a switch in the 4th quarter of that game and didn't look back. Absolutely brilliant from there onwards.

Apart from the players, it is a tribute to Dimma, and a tribute to our great club culture, thanks to Brendon.
Dimma still seeks to improve himself through off-season studies in the USA.
My brother briefly hosted him on a visit to New York.
A triple premiership coach, Dimma is still seeking to improve through new learning.
An inspiration for us all, whatever our walk of life.

I think you are under rating Tarrant there

Whilst he did take 6-8 weeks to get a handle of our game plan and used to our players and structures he was very good in the 2nd half of the year and extremely important when we had Balta & Grimes got injured.

We hope young can develop into a good enough player to take Tarrants position but it will take a good 12 months and 2 pre seasons for him to even get close to tarrants level

He wasn't awful. He had 1 or 2 poor games, but was generally ok.

In Round 1 for example, he kept Mackay to 1 goal, which was from a very good lead. I watched him closely that game, and thought he was very good. Did similar in plenty of other games, but at times the ball came through our midfield way too easily towards the start of the year and he was beaten on the lead (as would most defenders with the speed and ease the ball come through the midfield).

You are all entitled to your opinions but I say though once great, he is now just too slow.

yep, Tarrant bashing became the most popular unwarranted past time on this site. Took me back to the days when McGuane would get bagged each week despite having few goals kicked on him.

Wasn’t from a very good lead Mate, it was an unbelievably soft free kick. I was livid at the time and remember it well. He just outpositioned the dud and used superior strength but got a free against

As others wrote, slow start, very solid finish. Played out back end of year after broken thumb and surgery which for anyone that’s had a hand injury and tried to play a ball sport it’s damn hard.
Seems like the kind of guy who would have been a real Richmond Man given more years at Punt Rd.
