Training For 2023

I really like Picketts toughness around the contest , If he could just clean up his free kick offending he would be amazing

I’ve learnt that when a post that makes no sense it means they’re responding to a poster that is either on ignore or has you on ignore.
Dunno, there's a few posters on here who I regularly have no idea what they are on about. In a good way!

Thanks all you for your reports. Water bag in the desert.
From those and from todays selections certainly Colina, Gibcus and Smith won't be there and Graham, Pickett, Ross and Tarrant are all pretty doubtful.

Broad and Lynch the other longish term outs, together with Sonsie but if all get through today they will play round 1 despite fitness concerns. Ditto Baker.

Soldo and Ryan get their chance but expect Miller to be named against the blues.
Hopper, Tarrant and Young, (my first draft pick preference), to play their 1st.

B Grimes Balta Young
HB Baker Vlastuin Rioli D,
C McIntosh Cotchin Clarke
HF Cumberland Bolton Rioli M Jr,
F Riewoldt Martin Lynch
R Nankervis Hopper Taranto
I/C Broad Miller Prestia and Short
Sub Sonsie.

Fitness issues aside imo this side youthful as it is, is near to our best with only Pickett a certainty when he becomes available.
Expect a 15-20 point win but happy if it is a point, as long as the injury list is not added to.

Gibcus, Broad and Tarrant all injured and Grimes showing signs his paper strength strings are a week-to-week proposition doesn't bode well for a defence that leaked more than the Titanic last season.
The Titanic omly ever leaked once.

Sorry TBR how do you just make up someone's height? I am not buying it.

It's educated guessing not just completely made up.

So the conversation might involve the previous years list and you might get to Sampson Ryan at 2.06. Then someone around the table will say I reckon he has grown a bit. So you'll put 2.09. Then the next year someone might say no way he is that tall, so he ends up 2.07.

They don’t believe in tape measures?

You don't really have any cause to measure them most of the time, it's not really relevant to anything in terms of training or conditioning.

Much easier to take a stab than spend the time measuring 45 blokes.
Would literally take 10 minutes to do the whole list, support staff, coaches and any other random people who just happened to be in the room at the time?

An AFL club can’t find 10 minutes a year to accurately measure their list? Staggering.

Reckon Sampson Ryan reinforces what I'm saying here.

If he is 103kgs (which is 1 more than Nankervis is listed at) I'll buy every Richmond member a beer.

My guess is that its treated as a marketing requirement from outside the football department.
Effectively its required by the AFL to be listed on the websites but its not used internally by the footy club.

So its a spreadsheet that needs to be filled and sent away. As it has no bearing on the footy activity there is minimal time spent on it

I remember an interview done with Ryan and he mentions that while he was listed as 206cm on the draft profiles he had grown and last he got measured was something like 207.6 or 207.8 i cant remember the exact number but he also went onto say he thinks he still has 1-2cm left to grow (in his opinion)

But he certainly is mobile for his size and showing good signs as a foward
