Trading two draft choices for a single player. Nup.

For mine we take the 2 picks to the Draft, in a shallow draft we currently could get 3 picks inside 30 incl Naish.

A simple exercise would be to look at how many top 4 picks in the past 10 years were worth it. What if you got a Gumbleton? Or a Morabito? Could you have instead nabbed Alex Rance and Callan Ward (2007 example)? Or maybe we could have nabbed Nick Vlastuin AND Brodie Grundy (2012)?

It takes a team to win, and usually I'd rather add two quality players to the mix than one.

Here's some research based on the St Kilda decision to knock pick 4 & 7 and instead take McCartin. It's not quite the same but makes for interesting reading.

I'm with you Jonesy, we should get as many early picks as possible

yep, we could even trade into 2nd round i'd reckon that'd be handy too. end up with 4 picks inside 30-35ish for example

I suppose we need to know what Dusty's doing before we can really establish our agenda.

Massive ramifications for us if he decides to go.

Could trigger a fair dinkum rebuild if the picks and compo were on point but the club wouldnt have the bottle to do it.

Sources close to Richmond have told me? The dees have proposed a trade of 10 + 27 for 15 +17 to assist in lever deal #AFLTrades #exclusive

The Hawthorn and St.Kilda trade of last year shows what sides will do when desperate for picks.

With the amount of clubs needing picks in the 1st round, I think we can squeeze out better value than this rumoured Melbourne proposal.

10 and 2018 first is even betterer.

They're desperate.

Our guys need to talk them up, 'with Lever, the flag is yours, it's going to be pick 18 anyway, just hand it over'

They might as well gi e it to Adelaide then, wayne. Probably better to.

Don't mind it but it definitely is better for them. If we could go 15, 17 + 50 for 10, 27 and their 2nd next year then I'd be stoked. Move 1 first above a Naish bid. Use Melbournes 2nd on Naish and gain an extra pick in the 2nd round next year. All good.

Or ask Melbourne for next years 2nd plus a 3rd from this year.

Same thing, we get Naish and a first and grab their 2nd for next year.

15 & 17 = 2137 points (ours)
10 & 27= 2098 points (theirs)

"Tell em they're dreamin " Bloody cheapskates. You want our picks? Cough up, no discount, they need to pay a premium, we're not here to make it easy for them. Just remember when they tried to flog off a damaged Trengove to us.

Somebody's quoting zippers as a source close to Richmond, or is he tweeting his own rumours.

Reckon either of these we should go back to Melbourne with

In Picks 10, 27 and their 2018 2nd (lets say Pick 31) = 2704 points
Out Picks 15, 17 and 50 = 2410 points

Adds a 2nd next year and gets points for Naish. Pick 27 and 53 has all bases pretty much covered

Or

In Picks 10, 45 and their 2018 2nd (lets say Pick 31) = 2348 points
Out Picks 15 and 17 = 2137 points

Still gives us the 2nd next year and also gives us an extra 3rd for Naish. Picks 45, 50 and 53 will also have us covered, we'll just have to go into the draft with an extra spot on the list than the 1st option which is why I prefer that one.

I wouldn't do that either, I see melbourne as a top 6-8 team next year and that would put their pick at around 28/29 before free agency compo's kick in
The only way i would do a pick down grade is if we are still into Schache and we could get him for the later pick we trade in this year

e.g #15 + #17 for #10 + #27 and #27 gets Josh Schache

i think people need to pay less attention to points. how many points pick 10 is worth would hopefully be irrelevant to us, just as points are irrelevant to the Dees.
obviously points gained for Naish are relevant but points allocated to picks that will be used in the draft have no value.
