Tom Mitchell

Reading the last few pages I am probably swayed back as a ‘no’ now..
Although I don’t get the point of the Merrett discussion thing - he is a gun but he aint leaving the Bombers surely so not relevant
You're wading into dangerous waters if you're calling for irrelevant items not to be discussed on a public footy form

Mitchell at RFC naah I dont think so people.

Too old, to slow and we have better options available that would suit us better going forward.

Hawthorn went backwards on the backs of Mitchell and Scully and O Meara.

Lets not make the same error by importing him.

Whorethorn went backwards because Hodge, Lewis. Mitchell, Rioli, Roughead, Gibson, Birchall and Smith all left. It had nothing to do with the arrival of O'Meara or Mitchell. Scully also cost them nothing so irrelevant to the point.

Opportunity cost Kongers. They should have gone full rebuild, instead they loaded up on Ty Vickery. They thought another premiership was just around the corner with Scully, O'Meara and Mitchell.

It's worked for Geethrow in the sense that they've remained very competitive for quite a while, but not in recent years for Borethorn.

I heard about 18 months ago we were going to go the re-stock with mature players path whilst we were in the "Premiership window" so to speak, and to try and make the most of it, targeting some big name players. That may have changed now, dunno. But the view 18 months ago with the list and its talent, the cap space that we had, impending retirements etc, that we should go for some decent established players and not just go to the National Draft with a standard hand.

Again, things may have changed since then especially with the number of high picks we have this year and supposed talent in this year's National Draft. Guess we'll see.

Now all Tom Morris has done, is know the tigers are going to address our inside midfield need as we dont have the depth *yet to cover injury prone cotchin and prestia if both are out at the same time. So knowing that he has just connected the dots. From what I know, Mitchell has not even come up in Tigers discussions at all. It Mitchell decided he wanted to be traded, then yes we would have interest but even then it wont happen as we wont trade our first rounders for a player of his age that realistically can only be a short term fix. You dont waste round 1 picks on short term fixes. We would only offer that type of pic for Cerra for example.

WHERE THE HELL DOES IT SAY TIGER 71 KNEW.

HERE IS HIS EXACT WORDS.

Its fairly clear Morris spoke to Mitchell's manager and his manager said someting along the lines of 'Tom would be open to trade to a Melb club in contention for a Premiership".

Its also fairly clear that Tom the pissant Morris made the rest up from there.

"Contender for a premiership" Now i understand why he wasn't linked to geeeeelong.

Sydney flag 2012. Mitchell plays for them 2013-2016.
Hawthorn flags 2013-14-15. Mitchell plays for them 2017-2021.
Richmond flags 2017-19-20. Mitchell plays for them 2022-? ???.

Tom Mitchell ... escorting teams out of their premiership windows?

Tom, the trick is to pick who's going to win the NEXT few flags, not the last few.
Ask Dion, Josh and Toby.

Looking at it objectively, if I was a player entering the twilight of my career, Richmond would not be high on my list right now.

Why not , don’t you like playing in finals in preference for a low pressure environment of never expecting to win

Yeah, but O'meara only plays for half a season, in that time he might have 2 outstanding games, Scully just ran and was not damaging, Mitchell gets alot of the ball, but the players receiving the ball are no world beaters. the ex port player Wingard is nowhere near A grade. They didn't cost alot but they don't produce alot. Don't forget Patton! Wright was the so called saviour for Hawthorn by picking up these players on the cheap, total BS and hawthorn is now suffering. They gave up their first pick many times and have nothing! Clarkson sees this and wants good picks for next draft, if he doesn't his days as coach is numbered. For Clarkson, its 3 or 4 first rounders or Carlton.

If I was Mitchell and could switch to Richmond right now, I would. Still in the flag window.

They won 4 Premierships with their strategy. They picked up Gibson, Lake, Burgoyne, Frawley & McEvoy who were all vital to their success. They wouldn't regret any of their trades apart from Wingard who is talented but a flog.

You suggesting that Richmond is out of its premiership window?

I also remember hearing that line straight after Rance did his knee against Carlton Round 1 2019.
