Yes call the club on MEMBERSHIP: 1300 742 466

Also, you can still get tickets tomorrow on Ticketek.

Why not use the membership card to scan in at the ground "I hear you can request a physical card" or the digital card with barcode that the AFL and clubs are going to send out in the next week to scan in at the turnstiles.

For Marvel, I'm sure you can just scan in and then stand where you want. It's not like the G where they have standing sections, at marvel people just stand behind the steel barriers i.e behind the last row of seats.

I haven't heard that you can't stand again at Marvel, I guess best to clarify with Marvel on (03) 8625 7700 or the AFL (03) 9643 1999

Standing room better be allowed at the G, just got my GA ticket.

I note for the carlton game at the G, a home and away member can get a general admission entry 'upgrade' for $0, basically standing room, however for the round 3 game against the Saints at the Dome, it doesn't appear as though you can lock in a general admin standing ticket, I have to book and pay for a seat, even if I want to stand.

Does anyone know if this is correct and I cant get a standing room spot at the Dome in advance for $0?

That's a worry, I was planning to just turn up to that game, might have another look.

I usually am a worrier in that I’ll miss out if I don’t get in early. I was flat out at work today so missed the 2pm start time. I got home and logged in around 5.30, thinking that there’ll be just crap left. As a home & away member also wanting an extra 2 tickets for home members, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Surprisingly easy this time. Showed seats for an area I don’t like, then saw a map where you can change seats. Very surprised. Got 3 seats close to where we normally sat before covid. Really happy with them. Hope it stays for the year. The only issue was with sending the other 2 tickets via mobile. The same issue there

Nah they sell tickets at random. Seems a bit better this year in that I could actually see the whole bay and move my seats to near the front which is what I like. In the past I have booked tickets early only to find the next day better seats are available. Infuriating, if they have fixed this then I'll be a lot happier. Lot's of different preferences for where to sit so allowing us to actually choose is just so much better. For the life of me I don't know why their system chooses a "best available" ticket further from the action but not under cover, makes no sense.

As for sending tickets, I print them out. Printed tickets work better at the turnstile too.

I intend to print out the barcode from the digital ticket and laminate it, there's your barcode.

I didn't look hard enough and my ticket for Round 1 is in the Ponsford Stand. Suppose I'll have Carlton supporters all around. We'd better win that one! Still, ticket in about row E so that's nice. The tickets for my daughter and I were cheaper than the guest so I suppose that away membership is handy.

DS you are at the Richmond cheer squad end (city end/ponsford end), Carlton as the home team are at the punt road end.

Are you sure about that (I thought it might be the case too) but I do remember, not sure when, I was down that end one year and it was the Carlton Cheer Squad there. We'll see, I hope it is friendly territory.

Totally agree with you on the dodgy way they usually sell the tickets. Very infuriating.
In the end the tickets ended up being received ok. I used my laptop to get the tickets and inputted the phone numbers on that. Same problem in not being received. I remembered I had the ticketek app on my phone and checked that. Had the option of sharing so I sent them on the app. Ended up working ok on that. I would prefer to print as well but I usually don’t see the others until the game and I usually get there very early so renting for them won’t work for me. Very happy that we have the option of being able to pick where we can sit, if not sold out

100% sure. The pies are always at the city end (home or away). In 2019 RD 1 V Blues we were the away team (city end) and I actually sat near the cheer squad in M33
The blues were at the punt road end, as they also had their reserve seats up there as the home team.

This screenshot is from their website. Orange means cheer squad and it says (HOME) M3

If you're a HOME game member then you don't need the barcode for RD 1.

If you want to buy a reserved seat then use the below Ticketek link (no barcode needed). If you only want GA ($27), and not too fussed about where to sit just proceed to level 4 or stand. PS: if you cant locate your barcode and need it asap, call the club (membership) on 1300 742 466

MCG and MARVEL

10am – General Public

Forgive if this has been answered or you don't know the answer, can AFL members get walk up entry to stand? Or must you have a reserved seat upgrade?

From what I hear you can scan in and stand.
Walk up is allowed, and for those who don't want to reserve a seat but happy to just sit anywhere i.e on level 4 (middle to back rows), can just scan in.

Footy fans offered discount on AFL round 1 general admission tickets

Footy fans will be offered an unprecedented discount on general admission tickets to all opening round matches. Here’s how to score the cheap tickets.

Footy ticket prices will be slashed as the AFL tries to set a round one crowd record in Melbourne next week.

The AFL will on Wednesday announce an unprecedented general admission sale, with adult tickets to all opening round matches $22 for 22 hours.

The $5 discount on a standard ticket will apply to all five matches in Melbourne, starting with Wednesday night’s Grand Final replay between Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs.

It is part of a push to pack the stands as footy plays a part in Melbourne’s comeback, with the AFL determined to shatter the single round attendance mark of 400,401 set in 2017.

AFL customer and commercial general manager Kylie Rogers said it was shaping up as “our biggest round of footy ever.”.
“We want to see as many fans as possible back in stadium,’’ she said.
“And our special $22 tickets for 22 hours hopefully gives footy fans who were thinking about going to a game, incentive to get their tickets and be part of our city coming alive again.”

The ticket sale will run from noon Wednesday until 10am Thursday, unless sold out prior.

The last time adult tickets retailed for less than $22 at the MCG was 2013.
Ms Rogers said cutting prices to the cheapest price in nine years was a way of the AFL saying thanks to Victorian fans for their support while starved of live action for the past two years.

“Ticket sales have been really strong across the round so far and hopefully we can break the all-time single round attendance record of over 400,000 fans attending a game in round one,’’ she said.

The Herald Sun last month revealed AFL prices for the MCG and Marvel Stadium would be frozen for the fourth year straight, with adults $27, concession $18 and kids $5.

A new $50 family ticket for two adults and two children has been introduced and kids aged four and under will get in for free.

The AFL expects big attendance numbers, with uncapped crowds allowed to return matches for the first time since 2019 after the state government removed attendance restrictions.

Big crowds are expected for Essendon and Geelong’s “Country Match’’ at the MCG next Saturday afternoon.

Collingwood and St Kilda’s Marvel Stadium clash next Friday night and Hawthorn-North Melbourne’s match at the MCG next Sunday are also tipped to be well attended.
In a further push to attract fans, a “Festival of Footy’’ live site will be staged in Yarra Park outside the MCG from March 16-20 with fan activities, food trucks and football clinics.

Tickets to the MCG matches will be sold via Ticketek, with seats to the Pies-Saints clash at Marvel available through Ticketmaster.

$22 GA ends at 10am tomorrow, then prices back to $27 which is still pretty cheap for the No 1 sport in the country.
Even the new $50 family ticket for two adults and two children has been introduced and kids aged four and under will get in for free.

Many people just like rolling up, scan in and make their way to the standing sections alongside the tiger army/grog squad or proceeding to level 4 and get the best seats you can get if you get there early enough.

A sale, round 1 after 2 years of people not being able to get to games - are they worried about attendances?

I just had a quick look at the Richmond app as I am wondering about the way they are doing the tickets.

For some context I am a Roaming Tiger member so I book my reserved seat for each game and only pay a booking fee (usually $2).

Another aspect of this is that the app seems to go to Ticketmaster, not Ticketek who do the ticketing for the MCG.

So, I look in the app. I have general admission tickets, they do have some sort of unknown section and seat, which I presume is generic and we sit anywhere. But, the funny thing is that I look at Round 2 and I see that there will eventually be a general admission ticket in the app for me. But, I already have a reserved seat booked in the Roaming Tiger section. Does this mean I can give a general admission QR code to someone else while I enter using my Roaming Tiger reserved seat QR code? As far as I know, I can sit in general admission if I don't book a seat, but if I do book a seat I can't then enter the ground with my barcode, I have to use the reserved seat ticket to enter.

Looks to me like this is a very confused system. I can understand that for Round 1 where I did book a reserved seat it does not register this as the only difference there was that I got to book a little earlier as a member, but my booking is not really linked to my membership which would only allow me general admission. But for Round 2, which is a home game, I use my membership to reserve a seat and then they send me a general admission QR code in addition to the already booked seat.

i reckon they are. honestly, going by sporting events over the summer, i'm tipping we won’t get close to the usual 85,000 we get for this game.

No, they want to break the all-time record attendance for round 1 400K+ so had a 22-hour sale for $22 GA tkts.

ambitious for mine (nothing wrong with that btw).

its interesting to note the the MCC haven't listed a estimated crowd number for this game. they usually get their estimates bang on.
