Tickets to round 1

Ah the Ponsford stand, I miss the original. I used to enjoy the atmosphere up there. It had the best "old school" feel at the MCG since the Southern was built.

Sure if you like no cover and bad sight lines. For me once they pulled down the other southern stand and to a lessor extent they stopped playing games at the Western Oval, the old school died.

I couldn't care less about cover and I never had trouble with the "sight lines" (other than the fact I was at one end of the ground). Then again I just liked it because I could run amok up there and there was no security to throw me out. ;D

Ah the folly of youth, once I got my first membership i was like...Ponsford who?

They stopped playing games at the Western Oval when I was 18. My opportunity to get in a punch up in a dodgy Footscray pub has forever been lost to me.

Slightly off topic (but only by one round _ we play down there in Round 2)...

Although some grounds I understand do not allow standing room only, such as Skilled Stadium... dont quote me on that one.

Unless they've changed the rules since 2006, they have standing room on the terraces at the Northern end of the ground. We had the 17-game membership but had to book admission (about $3 to Ticketmaster) because the game was going to be booked out. Money well spent being able to give it to the Cats' supporters down there as we belted them against the odds ( $4.50 head-to-head). Danny Meyer starred, think it was his last game.

I normally get an 11 game membership, more as a donation to the club as I certainly don't make it to 11 games each year. I haven't renewed this year as yet as I was planning on coming down for the first game and was going to make a trip to Punt Rd as part of the pilgrimage.

Have I bent myself over in terms of getting to the first game?

I'm bringing a Lions supporting mate down with me as well so need a ticket for him and for me. I was just going to get reserved seats for both of us but looks like I can't get them now because I don't have a membership barcode as yet.

Any suggestions?

Do you just need the barcode number Brissy or do you need to swipe the ticket as well?

Does anyone actually think the game will be sold out? Has the G sold out, other than for the granny, since the capacity was increased?

Just the barcode Willo...the ticketek site asks you to type it in to proceed. Will it be the same as last years? If I haven't renewed yet will it deny me access to the tickets?

It will depend on the MCC members i think Rosy.. I reckon most of the GA and reserved seating will be sold out. I think AFL members is sold out but those bloody MCC members always let the team down. At the centenary game, the lack of people in the MCC members stood out like dog's balls and stopped any chance of getting anywhere near the 100G that was aimed for.

I'd ring the membership department Bris and explain the situation.  They might have a solution if you buy your membership now.  Worth a try.

Bris Tiger............

You will be able to buy a reserved ticket no problems at all, with or without a membership. It might mean you have to buy a premium ticket ( level 2 ) instead of standard reserved seat. It just depends where people like to sit. Personally I hate sitting on level 3 up the top, i always want to sit ground level behind the goals at the richmond end cos i like being close to the fence and players and i love the atmosphere. From everything that i have been told so far by RFC and Ticketek, it looks very likely that there will be no general admission on level 1 at all, only reserved and premium reserved seating, so i upgraded my tix so i could sit where i wanted to behind the richmond goals for an upgrade cost of $13 per barcode. if you are happy to sit in level 3 up the top to watch the game, most of this area if not all, will almost certainly be general admission, it will not be a fully ticketed event like anzac day footy for example, but there will be only general admission on level 3 by the looks of it. so if you dont want to spend the extra $$ you might be stuck on level 3 with your general admission membership thats all. if you want to sit on ground level or level 2 you will need to upgrade your barcode / membership to reserved seating for $13 per barcode. standard price for normal reserved seating for non members is around $34 per ticket. Anybody can buy these tickets, member or not, now that the dates have opened up to the general public.

Members without entry entitlements (including members who already hold a season reserved seat and non-access members) will be required to wait until the public on-sale to purchase tickets.

Please note - Members wishing to purchase a reserved seat upgrade will be required to quote the 12-digit membership barcode number printed on your membership card.

Sounds similar to my Masters assignment which I'm doing on financial risk, normal distributions and probability. Having analysed all the stats from a football perspective we should have won 2 premierships by now. Of course football models like financial risk models are unable to cope with extreme, unexpected events - say like 28 years without grand final success!!!!!

I am comparing the irrational swings in market sentiment of Wall Street after the Global Financial Crises and PRE after a NAB cup game. Interesting stuff.

R1 (away game) goes on sale on Wednesday.

As a roaming Tiger member, tix for R2 and R4 in my category goes on sale tomorrow at 2pm.

It’s been a while but does anyone know if I can get a couple of non member tickets with my away membership so I can sit together with my friends, or do I need to wait until general public tickets go on sale and Hope it isn’t sold out before then?
