Re: PRE Punters Club
Hmm, yes we were close with Calibrate but we did have a good result at Kembla Grange with All My Loving breaking her maiden status. Hope some of you guys got on.
I have copied Trainer, Tony Noonan's report on the run of Calibrate.
Please find below a report from Tony Noonan:
As I mentioned in my voice message yesterday, both Steve Arnold and myself were of the opinion that the run of CALIBRATE at Geelong yesterday was even better than his maiden performance. I know he was comprehensively beaten but he was really in a different race to the winner, the winner had got away from him at crucial stages, we were then spotting the leader a big head start and the horse that won the race obviously has good ability.
Unfortunately we really needed something to bring him into the race, we were always aware from that barrier draw that we are going to be back and the pattern of racing that day suggested you needed to be close to the pace so we were always going to be giving them a head start. I thought his effort to come deep and keep running, in fact, his last 100m was really good, I know the winner was probably entitled to stop but I thought our horse made really good momentum the last 100m so obviously the further he goes, the stronger he is going to be on the line.
He trotted out well this morning, he left a little bit of feed last night, the plan at this stage is to back him up at Sandown next Wednedsay to a benchmark 70, we may be a risk of not getting a start but we will nominate on Thursday and see. We will be conscious of his recovery in the latter part of this week, obviously I am not going to run him unless I think the horse has bounced out of the run yesterday well and is still on the way up.
As I mentioned in my voice message, at this stage the plan is to just give him one more run, I then want to give him a break and have him back before the Winter months because I seriously doubt him on a soft track so I would like to get another bit of racing into him before hopefully his form warrants a trip up to Queensland where he can race through the Winter. The horse, in his two runs back, has shown that he is bigger and better than ever and I think the future looks bright for him.
