Thomson Dow

I haven’t seen much of Dow, but he looks like he would make a good run with player if he has the engine.

The only problem is, just being a run with player doesn’t often cut the mustard these days.

Ross would fit that role perfectly also.

Thomson Dow (29 disposals, 17 contested possessions, nine clearances)

"He was a standout performer on the day, I thought he really kick-started us in the second quarter and was a class above. He's in really good form."

His game against Carlton was just as good. Really growing as a person and is ready for AFL. Unfortunately there is a few in front of him for his role. Sonsie will likely play before him as his outside work is more of a need.

Out injured. Explains why he didn’t make the senior squad. Looked prime for a call up.

I hope Dow's not far away. Despite disposal concerns, I liked his wheels in the midfield in the preseason.
That acceleration at clearance is what we are missing currently. We're simply not getting our hands on the footy first.
Taranto, Hopper, Prestia, Cotchin. Not getting separation.
As said previously. He provides a point of difference in that regard..
 
Good call. Shown significant growth so far this season - he has also developed physically. Regardless of his kicking - he has leg speed and can win clearances. Needs a run when available.

All due respect, we lost the game last night due to poor kicking skills and not speed. We simply cannot hit targets.
Dow will only contribute to this.
 
Really interesting what's going on with the player. Is he like his brother who belts them up in the VFL but is out of his depth in the big leagues? Seems a good takeaway clearance player at VFL level but is that his standard?
 
Another first rounder soon to be dumped. I hope Clarke has his marching orders at end of year. And I don't mean Justin!

Unfortunately, probably another 'tweener' - above VFL level but not quite good enough for AFL. Like his brother perhaps. Ross still the same and not convinced by Miller yet either.

One thing Dimma got right years ago when he said that sometimes too many VFL games actually brands you at that level below, hinders growth.

It's all about extended opportunity and confidence - Daniel Jackson, Brett Kirk, Matthew Kennedy was a spud, Michael Tuck, Dipper. Crisp, the current Hawk crop nee exit of Mitchell and o'Mara
