Thomson Dow

From a guy who knows the family directly, we made a number of enquiries last year about getting Thomson's brother Paddy out of Carlton. Not sure under what trade circumstances etc that we were trying to make it happen, but Paddy and his family were VERY keen to see him get to Richmond.

Paddy was apparently very frustrated at the mixed messages from the coaching staff, felt he was being played out of position, and was getting very down on all the negativity being generated about him - not the least of which was Greg Williams baking him in the media. The family felt some of his injuries weren't managed as best as they could have been either, and when they saw the experience that Thomson was having at Richmond - which was chalk and cheese on all fronts - Paddy and his parents were very keen to see something get done.

Didn't happen obviously, and not saying one way or the other he's someone we should target, but don't be surprised if we have another crack this year.

Can you get a message to him Redford?
Tell him to stop getting BOGs moving forward.
If we rate him, he needs to lie down now

Im not sure you can blame Carlton when the kid can't hit 20 meter kicks.

Our past record suggests we take two seasons to pry a required player out of his existing club so maybe we will try again this year

When is Paddy a RFA ?

Edit: Google my friend tells me in March 2018, Dow signed a three-year contract extension with Carlton, committing his future to the club until 2022. But the 6 year RFA rule means he'd be RFA in 2023.

He's a good kid but he and his family would be better off looking within for the answers. The forum was harsh but everything Diesel said was spot on.

If his career is going to take off at any club he needs to work harder and be harder. It's as simple as that.

It must be frustrating for him though hearing all the stories from his brother about how Richmond is run.

The BOG suggests he is working hard and it was too early to question his attitude.

The criticism is probably more a reflection of Carlton’s environment than anything about Dow personally.

His brother with us has looked like a future star from his first 5 minutes in last year’s practice game. Very confident on this kid, and I don’t see any reason to doubt his family, brother, or their attitude. Two very good future players.

Any chance that the 3 year extension cancels out the second year so becomes available in 2022 ,next season (Carlton's Dow)

Not sure I follow. I was talking about the reference above that Dow reminded him of Pendelbury
Was adding to your endorsement of Scott' missus being a high end WAG.

In comparison the RFC had Higlets Missus stirring up *smile* with rival clubs.

Dow would do well to emulate Pendlebury,

Find it a bit strange that Dow not chosen in the A side in either practice match especially tomorrow night with an 8 man bench.

Maybe they have seen enough that he is good to go along with Ross who is also only an emergency for Pies game.

Happy though to get another look at Will Martyn and first look at Riley in the 1sts

Bewildering that Chol continues to get valuable game time. I can only surmise that they’re looking at him as ruck support for Nanks.

Ross and Martyn are in the frame for round 1 against the Blues maybe.

We have 2 possible non starters against the Blues from our GF 22.

Dion and Bash although Dion might actually get up to play but we will just have to wait and see.

Who could blame Paddy for wanting to come to Punt Road to join his bro in the Tigerland success and love fest.

How good would it be if Paddy did come to Punt Road as a bargain basement pick up written off only to have the Tigers flick the switch on him and have him playing to the standards that got him drafted at #1.

Delicious.

Needs to work on his disposal.
