Staying out of the trade stuff.
Club will sort it out.

In the meantime, fill the microwave with popcorn and enjoy the show.

somebody somewhere sometime on PRE mentioned the guard from Hogans Heroes - Shultz - who used to say "i know nothing". yeah well, I'm with him. Go Tiges.

I always thought it was 'I know nuzzink'

I dont think the skys falling in but the fact that there is no nes about what we are doing is a concern The club has set the expectation that something needs to happen in the draft but as yet all were getting is a stalemate with Yarran and the prospect of loosing lennon

At what point do we start to worry and if we take the last 2 drafts as a guide when we say nothing we do nothing

Just as an aside alot of teams seriously competing for a final 8 spot had adjusted there list im worried were just treading water - just like our game plan when the 1st option goes wrong we have no plan B

One thing for sure about trade time is that targeted players start to look better and better and doing trades sadly becomes the focus. From where I sit, there really hasn't been much on offer. Dangerfield was never a possibility and we missed Treloar. I would hate to see us trade Astbury to get the Yarran deal done, because frankly we need a key defender more than an outside runner with a poor recent history. I hope we can keep Lennon because he is young, improving and a small forward specialist to help out Jack. Sometimes, to do nothing is the wisest strategy.

I'm happy we're not throwing picks away atm, the way they've jumped all over the future picks will halt teams long term, i wouldn't care if we only picked up Townsend and sent Astbury away for a pick. It's panic stations out there i tell ya! Seriously need to look at a backup plan for big Ivan he needs help and i don't think Iron gloves Hampson is suitable. Not overly enthused about Yarran not worth pick 12 on what he showed this season.

Interesting article in the age suggested that one element of Hawthorn's recent run was their strategy around 7-10 years ago where they traded away players to get a large amount of top 25 draft picks over a 4 year period so they could build a core team of high draft picks all around the same age. In short, the article suggested that draft picks are often undervalued and players over valued.

Obviously they've had other things go right for them, such as the timing of the compromised draft making it near impossible for the rest of the comp to make up the gap. But perhaps this is one difference between fleeting premiership runs and multiple premiership runs.

If there is some element of substance to this theory, makes one worry about the concessions given to GWS and GC. If it turns out those two clubs got their drafting right we could be in for a total snore feast - as if Hawthorn's run hasn't got boring enough!

We have a solid core of players in the right age bracket, i'd hate to see 2002 all over again, Stevie J may be Paul Hudson reincarnated :hihi

Yarran is a decent player, this seems to be getting forgotten a little b

I think the Hawthorn model of building a core group through the draft and then consistently adding quality from other clubs is a very good one. It is a model I had hoped Richmond was in a position to follow over the next few years.

Only two and half months older than Dave Astbury.
I'd like us to keep Dave.

Carton should swap us Yarran for Dea like they did with Grigg and Collins.
