The six must keepers for you

5 name themselves. Conca beats Rance for 6 because for all Rance's positives - he still cant kick. Batch is a sneaky #8.

In the not so distant past we would have been struggling to find 6 players we wanted to keep, let alone must keepers.
My 6 are, in no particular order:
Deledio
Cotchin
Martin
Riewoldt
Vickery
Rance
People like Houli, Nahas, Conca and Batchelor were stiff to miss out.

look how important first rd draft picks are -

first round pick 1 in 2004 - Deledio
first round pick 1 in 2006 - Riewoldt
first round pick 1 in 2007 - Cotchin
first round pick 1 in 2008 - Vickery
first round pick 1 in 2009 - Martin
first round pick 1 in 2010 - Conca

I'll also put Rance up there

It also highlights that the club is starting to get it's selections right.

This is rubbish. If you look at the key stats regarding kicking, disposal efficiency, long kicks, KTA & KTO and Rance is high on the list. You need to remember who he has been playing with and the pressure he has been under. To say he can't kick is plain dumb.

Rance still can't kick??

I've seen all of Richmonds games this year and Rance seems to be one of our better kicks, something he has improved out of sight.

Cotchin

Daylight

Riewoldt

Deledio

Vickery

Martin

Newman (Never believed in trading a Captain)

Apologies to Batchelor, Rance, Houli (an outstanding pick-up), and Grimes

Absolutely right. A lot of people can't get past Rance first season where he made a few clangers. His kicking this year has improved markedly in line with his obvious confidence. Yeah he's made some kicking errors, but mostly when he's been under pressure.

His run and carry style out of defense means he is sometimes forced to kick under pressure, but to say he can't kick, just goes too show that perceptions can be hard to change.

Many times Rance set up good passages of play out of defense with good disposal by foot.

Statistically he's possibly the best kick on the team. Hardly made a blunder all year.

Agree Disco, decision making was his undoing early in the season but he certainly ironed that out as the season wore on.

Bloody hell Pharacio, daylight between Cotch and Jaaack, you serious? I'd have Jaaack ahead of Cotch with the Pitbull chewing on his ankles. Pretty much agree with the rest of your picks after those three.

I know it's a tough gig to get a place in the All Australian mid field and Cotch was always going to stuggle against the likes of Ablett, Judd and Swan, etc., but I find it interesting that Deledio is the only guy that even got close to All Australian this year and yet he consistently finished lower down in most peoples list of keepers.

Deledio is still either 1 or 2 for mine.
