The RIP thread

Jack Davey (aged 11) from Auburn South Primary School tragically had his life taken from him yesterday while sitting on a bench inside the school grounds.

Condolences to Jack's family, friends, classmates and the school community.

Everyone is devastated including my 2 children who attend Auburn High School across the road.

RIP young Jack.

ditto. it's tragic

"the woman was doing a U-turn after picking up a child when her car veered off Burgess Street and into an outdoor table where at least five children were sitting"

cars weigh about what, 2000kgs? some more, some less...

drive better in protected zones is my thought

This is really tragic. A workmates son goes to that school and witnessed the incident.

In the wake of Teri Garr's passing, I was scrolling through CNN's "People we've lost in 2024" page and was astounded to read that John Amos had died on August 21. I am amazed that I had not heard of someone that famous dying. It is not mentioned in here either. Then I went to his wikipedia page and it says it was not announced until October 1 and even his daughter did not know until then.

RIP, John Amos. Well known for "Good Times" and "West Wing" but also in one of the funniest and most under-appreciated movies I've ever seen. If you've never seen "Let's Do It Again", do yourself a favour.
