1 more win and that’s about it folks, a priority pick will come our way, look i was there last night and as much as i enjoyed the win i wouldn’t want to get to 5 wins, in 2007 we picked up Cotchin at No 2 and Rance (priority pic No 18) this can happen again this year but also have pic 19 and not giving it away for a scared little runt like mcmahon and i told that to craig cameron last night 'well not the skinny runt bit" but to not off load any early draft pics which come our way......I know people do talk about last year finishing off on a good note "so did i last year" but it hasn’t translated to success this year so in effect what did we achieve a good feeling "Hope and promise" but hey we still missed the 8 and havent progressed this year too....IMO we didn’t take the opportunity last year to finish on 4 wins and snare pics 1 and 3 or pics 1 and 4 which would’ve yielded us Naitanui & Rich....Wallace believe me thinking more about getting another contract than thinking about the long term future benefits of the RFC...

Ok, so we move on from last year this year now we find ourselves in the same position and if we've learned anything from last year there’s no guarantee for winning meaningless games that will then translate to success next year...i for one am sick and tired of mediocrity year in year out, we have a chance folks to enhance the list if we're able to snare “3 pics within the top 20 this year” that'll go a long way to helping the list overall.....

Let’s be honest here, have a look at the below games and seriously apart from the dees and roos which i have us at 50/50 there’s no one really else we can beat, especially running into the home straight for some teams to make a play for the 8...

I do believe we'll win 1 more game and that’s about it, no gimmes at those teams below, this 2nd half of the year should be about development and getting games into the youngsters and come years end adding to the talent we have on the list via early draft pics....

RD 13 - Saints - Lose
RD 14 - Crows - Lose
RD 15 - Blues - Lose
RD 16 - Roos - 50/50
RD 17 - Bombers - Lose
RD 18 - Dees - 50/50
RD 19 - Swans - Lose
RD 20 - Pies - Lose
RD 21 - Hawks - Lose
RD 22- Eagles - Lose (eagles wont lose against the Cuz on there home turf, last round)

Re: To win or not to win - Draft pics V late season wins

Yeah, I can handle the kids playing and we lose at the same time to get the best possible draft picks we can come the draft.

I note the Tigers are looking at ensuring they have a Coach by October so they can have his input into the recruiting/trading/delisting side. I would have thought that the Coach whoever they are should be selected before the season finishes proper so they can see the players on the field themselves and go from there fully informed as to who can and who can't play on next year, I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens coaching wise, but draft wise I agree we can't win more than one more game.

Re: To win or not to win - Draft pics V late season wins

Win every game we can....always.

Re: To win or not to win - Draft pics V late season wins

Eagles are in the same position as us. Will be interesting come R22 if both clubs are on 4 wins.

Re: To win or not to win - Draft pics V late season wins

We should've lost last night. Woul'dve been nice to have got an extra pick hence being able to delist 1 more dud from the list. We blew it. Cheap wins mean nothing. Do we need another reality check? I hope we get one next round. Maybe some will then come to realise we just aren't good enough and accept the fact that drastic change is still required to move forward.

Re: To win or not to win - Draft pics V late season wins

We're dumb enough to win Rd 22.

a draw and both we'll be happy with priority pics, albeit the eagles having 2 pics within the top 5....

Well the Eagles still have the dees, freo, tiges and roos still to play, i think they'll win 2 more games

Nope, unless I got the priority pick rules wrong, you can get no more than 16.5 POINTS in a season to qualify. IF both teams had 4 wins, and they had a draw, both teams would miss out on a priority pick, as they'd end up on 18 points each.

Was changed about 3 seasons ago iirc.

I don't think you know how the draft works. We don't get any priority picks if we don't come last. Best we can hope for is pick 5. I hope Jade bloods some of the rookies for the remainder of the season. How is it that teams like WCE/North/Freo aren't afraid to throw players to the wolves. I just don't get it. With the position we are in I hope Jade at least plays and has a look at everyone. Nothing to lose anymore.

na that will never happen if they dont realise by now they never will.

its a merry go round they are on and they dont know how to get off the way i feel about the deluded fools i hope they never get of but ti would be just cutting my nose of to spite my face.
theres an olod saying you can lead a horse to wter but you cant make him drink brace yourself for another 27 yrs of mediocrity because nothing will change ever it seems. the rfc and its supporters always living for now never looking forward.

It's been a real eye opener into the typical Richmond supporter this forum.

mate before u post think it over, i know exactly how it works and we dont need to finish last to get a priority pic, if we finish on say 4 wins we get a pic within the top 5 could be pic 3, 4 or 5 depending on the eagles and whether we finish 2nd last or 3rd last etc but rest assured we'll have a pic within the top 5 if we finish near the bottom and also a priority pic at the start of the 2nd round if we win 4 wins or less regardless if we finish 2nd or 3rd last....I think you are the one who doesnt understand how the draft system works...

RD 13 - Saints - Lose - They are shaky - but give a 50/50 chance
RD 14 - Crows - Lose - I thnk we can win
RD 15 - Blues - Lose - can go 50/50. a chance
RD 16 - Roos - 50/50 - WIN
RD 17 - Bombers - Lose - we had their measure, we can WIN
RD 18 - Dees - 50/50 -WIN
RD 19 - Swans - Lose - WIN - we should not have lost to them b4
RD 20 - Pies - Lose - They Pies, tend to drop the games they should win... so we will WIN this one
RD 21 - Hawks - Lose - had their measure last year. Match up well. WIN
RD 22- Eagles - Lose (eagles wont lose against the Cuz on there home turf, last round) - WIN

for me I see 7 more wins with the others a 50/50 chance. I prefer we go for it & build a winning culture.

Continue to play the kids and build their belief !

correct general, i was thinking/posting a bit to fast for myself, 4.5 wins being 16.5 pts (18 pts as u stated), had in my head ya know 4 wins and a draw = 1/2, anyway u get my meaning...

Re: To win or not to win - Draft pics V late season wins

Worse thing about the current rules with the priority pick is, I was at the game last night & the whole time I was thinking if we don't win it's ok as it will ensure a better draft pick come the end of the year.
A lottery system needs to be introduced for say, every team in the bottom 8.

Re: To win or not to win - Draft pics V late season wins

I'm talking about priority picks at the end of the 1st round. Do you honestly believe we will win less than 4 games? Melbourne and WCE will reap the benefits early on and late in the 1st round.

well thats what im saying mate, 4 wins or less we get a priority pic at the start of the 2nd round, same thing end of first round, im just saying we dont need to finish last to get a priority....

Well if u read my opening post on this thread, i only have us 50/50 for 2 games and the rest all losses, thats what i honestly think.....

I'm tired of emphasising this. Demetriou can't see it or won't admit it. A guarantee that x wins gets you pick y is bad for the sport.
