The Official "RFC Coaching Position" Discussion Thread

Longmire is reported to have not applied

Also Viney said on radio he would not be applying (heard from a mate - didn't hear myself)

Never accepted him after his episode during Frawley's reign, I won't go beyond that, we all know exactly.

Can you jog my memory?

Do you mean when he was gonna leave?

Yeah and the captaincy thingo and the $$$$ and the ........., let's leave it at that.

How would PRE be if Laidley got the gig?

Matrix Men will give him a better hairstyle and plenty of product.

time to move on mate... that was a long time ago.

wouldn't be against it at all.

All crap aside, I'm so relieved Campbo has pulled out.
The only potential coaches I'd be happy with from the Northey era would be Knights and obviously Scott Turner who would be a monty if he was still in the AFL system.

Wouldnt want him as the senior coach but would be more than happy to see him at the club helping as a match day tactician and/or opposition analyst.

Unfortunately it is unlikely that he would be happy with that.

What are peoples opinions on Leigh Tudor?

Seems to tick a lot of the required boxes for mine & has been a part of winning cultures in both his playing & coaching career.
Has tasted success at TAC,VFL, & AFL as coach or assistant coach.
St.Kilda poached him from Geelong last year & the Sainters havent lost a game this season, coincidence perhaps ???

It doesn't go down well with me inviting an applicant, I cannot recall in any line of work where applicants have been invited to apply.

Headhunting goes on all the time in business.

Agree he ticks a lot of boxes, he'd be an outsider at this stage though. If he went through the process and came out on top I wouldn't be disappointed.

He would be, but it'd cost

Agree, he would be...if he can't get a senior gig. He will most definitely cost, if for no other reason than multiple clubs are already eyeing him for such a role.

I must say that with NM gagging and begging Buckley, Collingwood trying to hedge their bets and possibly out one of the better coaches in the afl to retain their golden child, I think the RFC are coming out of this as the most professional outfit looking for a coach.

No rush, no statements of who we prefer. Just a simple "We have a process, many good applicants, we'll wade through them and see who we think is the best fit for us". It's about the RFC, not the potential coach.

Of course I am choosing to ignore the hacks like tt12 claiming the contract with Bucks has already been signed and we're just pretending to go through a process.

Any ETA on when RFC will announce a new coach? After rnd 22 or a few rounds prior to it to let them assess?

An appointment will be made before the trade period. So by Grand Final time we should know who the next coach is.

unless our new coach is involved in the Grand Final in some way, then it'll be after the GF

Seriously if you are referring to me as TT2 - show me were I have stated that Buckly has already signed a contract and we are just pretending to go through the process? I would appreciate it very much that you show me this and as far as a hack lets see what evidence you can produce to back up your claim.

No tigertime, I was referring to the other TT, tigertough12. I left out the 1, it should have been tt12. I'll edit accordingly.
