Pretty candid interview by Buckley. No real new info or insights, puts a little bit of spin on to soften the blows of Treloar and Stephenson treatment, but only a little bit. Bottom line is the public perception that they stuffed up monumentally then stuffed up the way they went about fixing it, is all true.

And just also read that the Pies failed in their bid to have Beams salary written off. So they’re stuck with paying him too.

But im cognisant its a game of millimetres.

If we had sacked Dimma, recruited Treloar, missed Tom and Dusty had peaked just before signing a 7 year deal,
and IF Peggy was a racist autocratic narcissist, and if one of our marque players had allegedly aggro assaulted a woman, and if we were paying a bloke 600 grand a year to paint pictures, and we had systematically casually and actively racially vilified a black player out of the club, and if we were paying a project freak show experimental player a fortune,

well then it could be us on our knees,

I'm not sure what they were trying to do.
They signed him for 4yrs at 800k
They need to honour it. They knew he had baggage but stupidly ingorned it.
There is 800k in 2021 and 800k in 2022 for a bloke that will have played 6 games in 4 years for a grand total of 3.2 mill.
And with all reports, he wont agree for anything less.

I feel Ive been “woke” to NicNat recently. Flashy but he averages 5 kicks and 7 handballs a game. And half a goal a game. 1 contested Mark a game.

And he earns $1m a year! Wtf.

Nank averages 7 kicks and 7 handballs. .3 of a goal. .82 contested Mark a game.

Give me Nank anytime over Nicnat and not just because he’s half the price.

Nank and Soldo together would not be getting paid 3/4 of what Grundy and Nic Nat get on their own. And they are the best ruck combination in the AFL. And we have won 3 of the past 4 flags.

Scumwood and WCE can have their $1m per year showboats. I'll take our heart and soul warriors anyday.

your ruckman are Landcruisers on the list, amongst McLarens, Rav4's, Teslas and Falcons.

and I suspect Grundy's gears are all ground out and his injector pump is clogged with congealed *smile*.

RFC taking Nick Vlastuin ahead of Grundy (I was outraged at the time), is yet another sliding door moment that has gone our way.

I hate Collingwood more then any other club. But this story of just clearing cap space is just *smile*.
Treloar was the one that asked to back end his contract because he had issues with his previous girlfriend. And TAB has off field issues they haven't been able to rectify.

They accomplished what they needed cap space.
They can keep Degoey ( got 2yrs at 750k today) Milocheck will stay for 600k.
But they still have Beams wanting his 1.6 mill
And then they have Langdon 2 more years at 600k

A few weeks ago Beams said on the Sacked podcast he had reached a settlement with the Pies and seem content with it (actually i think he praised them so probably pretty generous for Beams considering what he delivered to them).
