Even Doofus Shaw agrees with me that 7 years is way too long for grundy.
He even said that you dont need a A1 quality ruckman to win a flag.
Typical Collingwood sign up the bloke that is the least important.
I would have him beind Degoey,
Penderbury is a keeper and even Moore playing down back is more of a priority.
Don't get me wrong Grundy is a good player, but 7 years at 1 million per year. He isnt Brad Ottens.

7 year deal for Grundy just allows you to take 7 years to pay him what you would over five, easing the immediate cap pressure.

Same thing we have done with Martin and Lynch, you hope they last the full length of contract but if not you can afford to carry a spot or two on the list for the trade off of easing cap pressure.

I think that's fine in regard to Grundy but I also think de Goey and Moore may want the same security and there is no way I would be giving three players that sort of deal. Moore is made of crate paper and de Goey is already twanging hammies as well. Grundy is different. He is a warrior and very durable but those other two are injuries waiting to happen. I hope they sign both of them all on the long term deals. Just for the fun of seeing the Pies with two of their three long term stars in the grand stand more often than not.
